If No Ammo, Why do I get 5 Emails a Day of Ammo on Sale ?

I can't beleive that the USA is still letting Russian ammo and materials
get off the boats and land on our soil............

with what they are doing.

The shame of it all.

We let Chinese stuff land on our soil, too...

Ammo is available because it's too expensive for most of us. If they lowered the prices it would sell out right away, again.

I wondered that too. It seems like the explanation is related to cost, rather than availability. Everybody loves capitalism until demand exceeds supply.

I haven't seen Norinco ammo since the early 90s. Pretty sure the import of all Chinese ammo was banned at that time, not just Norinco. Wish I would have bought a SKS back when they were $90 for the Norinco version, those got banned too.

I agree with the second half of your post. Any 9mm less than $.40/round disappears quickly.

I get those emails as well, from online retailers I've bought from in the past. As noted by others, they have ammo but the prices are too high as far as I'm concerned. So I let it go. If others stopped buying at those prices, the prices would start going down.

The law of supply and demand goes both ways. If there are no buyers at a certain price point, the retailers will bring prices down until buyers are found. That then becomes market price.

The import paperwork was already approved, and it was on the way before Putin started to flip everyone's lunch trays in the cafeteria.

Ammoman has free shipping over $99.

They have Prizi Partizan 9mm for .37-1/2 cents per round 1000rd case.

P/P is good ammo. And not a bad price.

This is the new normal. It's not going to change. I'm a purchasing agent. I see the price of copper and steel pipe rise every week. Ditto brass fittings. The stuff used to make ammo.

This reminds me of my Dad. When the price of bananas went from .19/lb. to .25/lbs, he said that its gouging, and he wasn't paying that outrageous price.

Guess what? The price never came down, he accepted that, and once again had bananas on his Wheaties.

So you can either be self righteous, or you can have ammo.

I myself am in a very good position with ammo. But I'll fill in a hole if need be.

On line ammo prices have come down recently, but everything is still pretty much double what it was before Covid. Shipping charges are also up about 30%.

Ammo in common calibers is readily available but the price has leveled out. The gun buying/shooting consumer has set the bar of what people are willing to pay. At the height 9mm ammo was $700 a case. It is not about 1/2 that at $350 a case delivered to your door.

At $350 it is still double what it was in 2019. I do not think we are going to see sub $300 9mm for a while. People are still buying at $350 so the manufacturers, suppliers and retailers are holding at that number.

Until demand drops off this the reality. IMHO

You do realize that the price of the raw materials to manufacture ammo has at least doubled since 2019?

Yes, $700/1000rds is gouging.

$350/1000rds is going to be the average for the foreseeable future.

It has not doubled. It is up but not by 100%. Do not buy into the BS. The price is what it is because demand is outstripping production. Simple supply and demand.

I personally don't care. I can shoot at my normal rate with the factory ammo and reloading supplies I have on hand for 10 years.

There will be a tipping point where I have to buy again but we are not there yet.

Hodgdon sent me an E-mail saying they would sell me reloading powder directly to me , just set up account , place order and it would arrive at my door ... Guess which powders were out of stock ... All Of Them !!!

I didn't major in business but you can't sell things you don't have .
Gary

I was looking for a substitute for Bullseye and Unique and it looked like HP38 would be just the ticket.

When I learned that Hodgdon would sell direct I bookmarked their web site and reviewed it every few days. One day, viola, it was in stock and no limit.

It came in a few days and the price I paid was comparable to my last Alliant purchases. I DO have an account with them now, but I never got a follow-up email from them.

That fits me to a T as well.

I usually reload every box a few days after I shoot them. I had figured how my inventory of primers would last based on current usage.

Bu then it occurred to me, my inventory of already loaded ammo would last twice as long as my primers on hand.

The price of copper, steel, and brass has doubled since 2019.

That's not BS. It's what I do for a living. And current events are pushing them even higher.

I'm dealing with retroactive price increases on material I've had on order since last fall. And the delivery dates are speculative at best.

This is the new normal. Sure, prices will go down some, but they'll never go back to the original cost. Ammo, food, gasoline, HVAC equipment, even Dollar Tree is now Dollar and a Half Tree.

I get an email every day from LAX, SG AMMO and multiple other ammo retailers with offers. Every single one of them has most ammo available and when I say that I mean many cases as I only look and purchase by the thousand.

Ammo is available it is just expensive.

Are you guys inundated with marketing of ammo as well ?
Yeah, I get pounded with emails daily. I delete them constantly, but keep subscribed because whenever there IS a deal, that's how you usually catch it.

I now have raised my price to $300 for brass 9mm case, have managed to hit that twice over the past couple months. Case of Norma for $300 to the door from ammoshoponline, they do free shipping over $200 (ha), so that was the final price.

Recently did LAX range remanufactured for something around $250 a case, but they charge tax and shipping. Came out a small bit over $300 in total. But they look clean and nice, 95% winchester brass (and based on my WWB history probably just as good, or better than WWB).

Sgammo infuriates me. They used to be the best, but it sure seems like ol Sam Gabbert has decided to cash in on this panic. Don't give the "it costs more for them to get it to sell to us" excuse, I watched him jack the price of corrosive 7.62x39 over a hundred dollars higher, when Biden banned the Russian imports. That was YUGO SURPLUS (not Russian) that he already had, he just changed the price when the caliber made headlines.

Whenever there is a war, the prices of battle theater munitions rise. But the other factor is that lots of gun-uninterested Americans are arming up because of the attempted coup.

It's ccalled " Bait and Switch "

Or as the school yard children would sing : " Ha Ha Made you look ,
you a low down dirty crook , stole your momma's pocket book !
Took a dime and bought some wine, now you look like Frankenstein!
Ha Ha Made you Look "

Don't fall for it !

I used to get those emails also until I unsubscribed from them. When I need something I know where to look and then I’ll have to unsubscribe again since it seems just looking at a site means you’ve subscribed to their email list.
It’s the game that is played these days.

How Dare You...

Supply and demand. Demand is very high and supply is relatively low. Prices have to rise and this drives down demand and that in turn drives down demand while increasing prices.

Supply and demand always responds to changes across the economy, and eventually ends in equilibrium. Take minimum wage. Due to 2016-2019 massive economic growth, equilibrium of the economy was higher than minimum of wage. Take 2020-2022 mass inflation, which is still occurring. When the inflation ends, the economy will eventually reach equilibrium and minimum wage will be even further outpaced. However, until the economy can reach equilibrium, prices for everything will bounce up and down as the supply and demand bounces up and down as I explained in the first paragraph.

The economy is in upheaval AND you have the economic growth, then crash, then mass inflation playing with prices the entire time. The economy is a roller coaster until things stop rapidly changing.

ALWAYS look for good deals and NEVER give in to economic crashes. Crashes lead to good deals and that is evident by 9mm or 5.56 being good deals buying in bulk, depleting supply.

Sales are always about volume, not charging crazy prices. If you rip us off, you stop getting our business. If you have really good prices, you get all of the sales. When you raise prices to fight scarcity, you get less sales. When you then get more and more inventory, you have to lower prices. Once you run out, you raise prices due to scarcity. Cycle repeats. The ammo economy has not reached an equilibrium where sales at good prices are equal to new incoming stock. You WILL see prices do this for the next few years

How dare you use such rational thinking...Just kidding I got smoked on another thread for saying something along the same lines and you've pretty much summed up the main cause of prices staying so high.
