A while back I bought a Model 29-5 6.5 in from a client of mine. Got an incredible deal. Everyone always comes to admire it when I'm at the range. I'm keeping this for life!

I bought a John Ross 500 S&W special because I didn't want to have to change muzzle brakes when switching between jacket or lead bullets. Won't be able to shoot anything until last part of August. The 500 arrived two days after injuring my shoulder. The gun does looks nice!

I find myself drifting back to S&Ws; most of my career I carried the utilitarian Ruger Service/Security Sixes and loved their ruggedness and reliability. I am still very fond of them and expect to always have a few of them around.
However S&Ws seem to be on the increase here. A 442 has been my EDC for about 18 years--and it looks like it. But it has always gone bang and it is one of the few guns I have owned that I have never bothered to pull the sideplate on. It ain't broke and it works just fine.
The K frames fit my small hand, and for 98% of my revolver shooting a .38 special (or .22LR!) is all I need. Some are 60 year old M&Ps with a million beat miles on them. I can trust them all to work every time.
More recently I have bought a couple of 9mm Sigmas and a 15-22. Great quality, good runners, and just plain fun to use. The Sigmas are what Glocks should have been IMHO. I view them as 16 shot Model 10s and they fill the same niche.
I am currently plodding my way through 300 plus rounds of reliability testing with a Kahr CW45, and it is not doing too well. I suspect that it will fall in the "can't trust it" category and go down the road. The little 442 may not be as impressive as a pocket howitzer, but it has always worked 100%.
If I were to continue to explore compact semis I think I would just haul off and get a Shield 9mm and be done with it. S&W has pretty well earned and kept my respect.

My last 686 was junk.I sold it about 3 years ago.
I was missing a Smith a LOT and have been looking at different models, ever aware of the seemingly endless posts on how new Smiths are terrible.
Undeterred, I examined several new Smiths at the GS today.
About 3 of the 686's had a slight barrel cant. Although canted barrels irk me no end, it was so slight that I would have bought one anyway.
So laying there was a 3" 686 with wood grips. It looked lovely and the barrel is not canted in the slightest.
After 30 mins (the GS owner is very patient with us OCD types) of examining the 686, I had to have it.
Test fire date was May 15, 2012 so it's only 2 months old.
Haven't shot it yet. I cleaned it up and lubed it a touch.
The laser etched logo looks a little more pronounced than the last 686 I had. I shall still avoid rubbing it though.
Trigger action is very good. SA action was amazing.
Let's hope it shoots well
p.s. Felt a bit cheeky and asked the store owner if the peg could come home with me too. He was happy to oblige.

I bought a lc9 with laser max this year shot 20 rounds and traded it for a 460xvr 14inch barrel I love it 1st shot was at 170yrds into a 14 inch tire got it dead center with a cheap red dot I was with 6 other viet nam vets who also shot it I think they will get one also

Nice. I just bought a 625PC, but have yet to shoot it. That's a nice 50' group. I also bought a R1 enhanced and that thing shoots awsome!

S&W Shield in 9mm and M&P 15-22. Bought the 15-22 as a training aid and have so much fun shooting it. Also purchased a used 617, but have not shot it much it mostly sits in the safe, but good gun.

I bought a new 629 with a 4" barrel and I bought my wife a model 60 with a 5" barrel about a year ago. They both have locks, and so far they haven't caused any problems. Both guns shoot just like any of my other smiths. We're happy with them, and the model 60 was my wife's first gun that belonged to her. She's shot my 22's, but most of my other guns were too large for her hands. Sorry I don't have any pictures right now. I do have to say that my 629 is one of my favorite handguns.

I bought a 619 357 in 2008. Absolutely love that gun.
On Sunday past, I replaced the one that got away. I had a 642 about 7 years ago. I can't really shoot J frames a ton without getting a blister on my trigger finger, so I sold it.
I have regretted selling it ever since. I could not find a gun that carried as well. The Colt DS I've been carrying ever since was sufficient, but I really missed carrying that 642.
So Sunday I found a 442 at a gun show, and bought it for under $400. Now all is right with the world. When it's too warm to carry the 4 inch magnum, the 442 is what I'll carry

This beaut will be my carry. I had a Smith with a lock for years and never had an ounce of trouble so it doesn't bother me.
I think the 3 inch 686 is the best of both worlds. Just small enough to CC and big enough to be a fun gun at the range.

Last year about this time I bought a 642-1 (post-lock). I am impressed. Accuracy, fit and finish, overall appearance and shootability, even with +P, all A-1.
I have bought a total of 4 new S&Ws in the 30-odd years prior to this purchase. 3 of those were for my wife and the 4th was a 469 that I quickly traded to an unsuspecting coworker for a used 39-2 and some boot when I discovered barn doors were safe from me unless I was inside the barn.
When I used to look for trouble my snubbies all had horsies on the side, but with a set of Wilson springs and a Galco horsehide pocket holster, the 642 is all I need to avoid/get out of trouble. If S&W had made this gun 30 years ago, I'd have carried a pair.

Not sure if you mean just new guns, or used too. Anyway, I've bought my first 3 S&Ws since March: a 19-4, an SW1911 E-Series, and a K-22 4-screw. I'm very pleased with them all, and the 1911 has worked without a hiccup for close to 1,000 rounds of ball and hollow points.

I have a 642, and carry it in a Galco horsehide, and have actually considered getting a second 642 and Galco, so I don't have to reload, WTSHTF.
