When I carry a revolver...

It is one of 3 S&Ws or 1 Colt, unless it is a Western Wear gig then a Ruger SA in a custom made rig.

Since I got the Model 58 its the revolver of choice; followed by the 325PD; for a real Sudden Impact I'll wear the Nickle 29-3 with its 6" barrel. Of course there's always my Colt Cobra!

I still occasionally carry my M65 3 inch heavy barrel on plain clothed duty. Have a nice Lobo #1 pancake for it.

It's heavier than my Glock 23 and carries less than half the ammo and the Glock has proven to be just as reliable and accurate as the revolver.

If I don't CC a J-frame, it's a K-frame for me. A 65-5, 3-inch usually is along for the ride on a boonies trip too!

My 2 3/4" Speed Six rides in a cheap Bianchi belt clip, thumbstrap IWB holster when I CCW it. My 3 1/16" SP101 rides in an even cheaper no-name belt clip IWB holster without thumb strap. The thinner and slightly longer barreled SP101 seems to be plenty secure without the thumbstrap but I like having it on the heavier Speed Six. The SP carries pretty easy. I am still looking for the right deal on a leather IWB or OWB holster for my 2 1/2" 19. Still looking for my 3" 66 too.;) For most of my purposes, and the threat level I anticipate, a good wheelgun that I shoot well is all I need. Although there are times I would feel better with more firepower and for that reason I continue to own a Glock 20. Fifteen rounds of 10mm goodness.;)

I have the same problem as you as far as my mag sometimes dropping out of my glock when I carry it at 9 o'clock. I've realized that it comes down to holster choice. And another good idea is to switch to the M&P. Because its very easy to switch the mag release for us southpaws. Last but not least there's nothing wrong with a good 2.5 inch model 66 or 19 if you like the glued version.

Hope that was helpful,
Younggun

My 2.5 66 i always on my belt in a Don Hume JIT. Conceals well even under an untucked T shirt.

I'm a lefty and carry a 2 inch 327, 2 3/4 inch 325 and a LCR back up. LCR in a Galco ankle, 327 in a Desantis , 325 in a IWB Hoffners.

For my money a 2 1/2" model 19 or 66 are pretty hard to beat.

Right here. I've got a nice 19-3 p&r'ed that gets looked at more than carried and a 66-7 that has some scratches. Locks been disabled and plugged. It gets carried a lot. Galco OWB. Most comfortable driving rig so far.

To the OP:

I carried a Glock 23 and decided to switch to S&W DA revolvers exclusively for carry. After a lot of research and thinking about my personal situation I decided the revolver was the best choice for me. I routinely carry a 3" 65-3 in a Wraith IWB holster by Seth's Gun Leather. I love it! I've carried that gun 12+ hours without any comfort issue, and that includes sometimes spending a few hours driving in my car. My cover garment is an untucked shirt.

Here's my gun:

I have been carrying a Glock 320 or 29 for sone time now.
I still like them, but do not want to carry a lot of weight if
I am not out and about in open or crowded area, ie a Mall.

I have always been fond of J Frames and have taken to carrying a 649 , with a couple of speed strips. I use a Galco side snap scabbard, or a Don Hume 3-2. I figure I have enough firepower to get me and mine out of the area if the need arises.

I carry a 686 2.5" in a Side Guard IWB. It sucked for about a week until the holster formed to my body. Now it's my best concealing piece. There's something about a revolver, they just conceal better on me than the autoloaders.

I did not vote due to not having a fitting selection.

There is not a particular frame that excites me. I have carried a 19, 36, 66, 686 and a couple others concealed at some point in time over the years. It used to be when I carried a revovler, the one I carried would depend on the way I was dressed for the day. A nice J frame worked well one day and it might be a K frame the next.

Now it is a S&W 1911 every day.

After having carried several guns concealed over my 30 year L.E. career, I have returned back to where it all started for me. My 4 inch Combat Magnum is carried (off-duty) in an old, no-longer-made Roger's IWB holster. This old holster is adjustable and has carried several different guns over the years. Even with the front inch or so of barrel and squared patridge front sight sticking out and resting against my hip, it is simply the most comfortable gun I've carried in that position. I've carried a 4 inch N-frame in the same holster and location and it is only slightly less comfortable, due to its increased weight, not "bulk" or "girth". The rounded edges on the revolvers are just more comfortable than squared-edge autos. Just my experience...

I normally carry a SIG P228, but occasionally carry my 4" 586 in an inexpensive leather OWB pancake type holster. It does not conceal as well as the SIG, but I'm thinking that one of those Mernickle PS-6 holsters will do a much better job.

I didn't vote because I tend to carry both K & N's. Often drop a 2 inch 64 in a coat pocket or a 4 inch 25 OTB. Don't have a single holster use several brands. Don't object to auto-loaders carry them also.

Dear Sirs, I have a question that I hope will help me to clear that I'm in another country, Uruguay, prices here are worth double that in the US.
For concealed carry, choose from:
1) S & W Model 10 38 cal pipe 2 "bluing used NIB -------> U $ S 900.
I love the action, has a square handle, it does perhaps a little big, if not bear loads + p +. The bluing is beautiful but delicate demeanor is perhaps. It has the traditional for service handles S & W wood, are beautiful.
2) S & W model 60 -9, cal 357, with pipe 2 "used NIB ----------------> U $ S 800.
I do not like the action of the "J" is tough series, it does not compare to the "K" but it is something that could cope, it is a defensive weapon. I do not like the rubber grips., Although very functional, I like the traditional wooden service.
3) Walther PPK, manufactured by S & W, worked with NIB machine -----> U $ S 1800.
It is very beautiful, is blackened, machine engraved, and its grip is integral, engraved wood, very cute butt.
I have no idea if they break or are very good. As I read that sometimes there Manua insurance decoker breaks? I say it's a limited edition.
This limited version is considered fine you fake? This gun is really master piece? Do you think opsión between 1 and 2, which would you recommend and why? Which of the three weapons recommend me for concealed carry and why?
Thank you very much for your help, your opinion is important to me.
Thank you,
Ale Pera
