If You Could Have any 3 Inch Revolver…What Would You Choose?

Bet you can't stop at just one. They are addictive.

3 " m 10 fixed up by Dustin Housel, Joplin
3" m 65 LS
3" m13 PC
3" m 64
3" m 10 spl order for Brazil has an enclosed ejector rod housing
3" m 64 customized by Wilson Combat (by Vic Tibbets )

They are all fun guns.

Colt Python. There are only 2 3 inch S&W revolvers that trip my trigger, and I own both. A Model 66-4 and a Model 696.

I will soon have a 3 inch Python.

I have 3 model 36s. All are 2".
I always like the looks of the 3", but never got around to getting one.
So my choice would be a 3" model 36 no dash square butt with a factory action job walnut magnas with a Tyler T grip. Either blue or nickel is ok. Also some old school leather to carry it around.

It would be these three a 547, a 19-3 and a 65-5.

I'd have to vote the 3" King Cobra for concealed carry. My second choice is my 3" Python but it's a little big and heavy for concealed carry.

I know this thread is about 3" guns, but I have to admit I've also wanted 2.5" revolver. I think Smith still offers the 686 with the 2.5", but the new 66 has 2.75" barrel. I wish they would bring back the 2.5".

The new Colt King Cobra - which seems to be old Magnum Carry model - looks great with a 3". It might be the best 3" sixgun around right now, although the 3" Python is getting all the attention. I'd like to see Colt bring out a new Python in 2.5", like the old ones were.

I own my "favorites"....life is getting too short not to...

S&W:
65-3
66-2
60-10
547
657

Looking for a Ruger GP-100 WC 10mm....very hard to find right now and expensive if one does... Would also like to try out a new SS Python.

Bob

Own at least a dozen three inch guns. Three K frames, a J, three Charters, a Manurhin, King Cobra, Python, Cobra, SP101, GP100, Speed Six, couple Taurus. Probably forgetting one or two. The Colts are sweet, I carry the KC on occasion. The GP100 is a Wiley Clapp; the best revolver Ruger ever made, one of the best ever made by anyone.

I have three that I carry. S&W 65, S&W 60 with adjustable sights and a Colt Detective Special. Love them all.

Earlier in this thread I commented on the 3" pistols that are on my wish list. As far as the ones I currently own I'd go with my Lew Horton 610-2, my Lew Horton 25-14 and last but not least a RB, blued M36 with the standard barrel. The 610-2 is pretty much my favorite!

I like revolvers too much to say I simply love 3" versions. I had a 3" M629 and it made a great payment for a poker debt that I incurred around 15 years ago. That guy still has it and more power to him; that gun was really only good with .44 Special ammunition anyway. It was nasty with .44 Magnum rounds and I am not a .44 Magnum fan so goodbye to that gun.

Further. 3" J-frames seem kind of useless to me. J-frames are for concealment and that barrel really interferes with concealment. YMMV.

However, there is a special place in my heart for the 3" M686+:

One that I dont have and would like would be a 1970s 3 in colt cobra with a shrouded ejector rod.

Nooner has mentioned one of my grail guns.. Model 360 3" M&P or the Night something or other version. There was also the plain bead blasted version. I did get a 2.75" 386 I really like

For many many years I have wanted the S&W 686 .356 Mag plus, with unfluted cylinder, 7 shooter in a 3" barrel. Yesterday in my local gun store, there it was. It was magnificent, I had the cash for it; $1100 bucks. I believe it is a Lew Horton edition. My toes curled up. I wanted it.

And I walked away from it. Why? I have 7 686's and a few 586's in all barrel length, most pre-lock, two with the lock and added the 'Plug".

I am 70 years, I am not going to leave any of them to my only son. I have enough guns. Enough!
