If you could choose just one Smith & Wesson firearm to own—whether for personal defense, fun at the range, or collecting—what would it be and why?

Would you pick a classic like the Model 29, a reliable Shield Plus, or something unique?

I’d love to hear what the community values most, as this could influence an upcoming giveaway contest! 👀

What's your must-have Smith & Wesson?

While we are at it, please list which of your children is your favorite. Okay, just had to wedge that in there as questions such as these are not fair.

If I could only keep one Smith & Wesson and the rules were strictly enforced, I would absolutely keep:

Performance Center 845 Limited, second series Model of 1998
Model 10-6, Toledo PD marked, 4-inch heavy barrel
Model 52-1, probably from 1969
...and one of my 6-inch Model 28-2's.

And I would absolutely refused to conform to any rule that would not let me, and take any silly punishment or banishment that came with it.

I like a LOT of S&Ws but if I could only pick one it would be a 5" Triple lock either in .44 Spl or .45 Colt

Fortunately, I don't have to pick just one and I do have a Triple Lock (made in 1912).

Riposte

It took a couple of days to figure that one out, but after a lot of thought, a couple of gin and tonics and some serious soul searching, I think my ersatz Pre-model 26 in .45 Colt would be the 'keeper'. Kind of a Frankengun, it's a 1955 Target 'N' frame with a 5" Model of 1950 barrel and .45 Colt cylinder; shoots to point of aim, and since it's not a collectable, it gets shot quite a bit.

If is was just a shooter I really like my 65-2. I own a 19-3 which is a nicer piece, but that 65 just works for me. I suspect that a former owner had some trigger work done by someone who knew what they were doing. However the last one that I would part with is a 22-4 with a nickel finish that my son gave me.
