If you could visit any era in time when would it be?

I would have liked to have been born a few years earlier than I was -- somewhere around 1935-40. I lived through the best times of high-tech before the bean counters took over management and we made and used the best toys around.

1840's

I could live the mountain man life very easy, I have most of my life, with interference with all the damn people that are here now.

This is a difficult question for me as I'm an amateur historian and would love to visit many places during many different time periods. However, the periods that I would visit would be the major epic events in history. I would like to see the founding of the Roman Empire as well as its downfall. I would visit during Moses' time to see how we got the Ten Commandments as well as see what really happened up close and personal in the year 33AD when you know who was crucified. I'd like to see what Egypt was like 3200 years ago. The list is endless for me.

Hmmmm?

Howdy,
I'm no historian but I'm close to Silver Dollar's line of thinking.
Opening night at the Collesium, followed up by African safari 1915-1920.
Enjoyed the thread.

1775 to 1788, Just to see the founding of these here United States of America, and have a say in what transpired. The founding of this great nation is what inspires me.

I'd prefer the period between 1865 and 1900, preferably living in the Western US.

Technology was improving, but self-reliance and respect were necessary for survival.

People still wrote letters that were thoughtful and well spoken.

Hard work and luck could turn your fortunes around overnight.

Our country still believed in liberty and freedom.

The guns were cool............:o

Working in historic preservation work for a loooong time.My deepest architectural inspiration comes from the "Federal period".....late 1700's-1820 or so.It predates the machine age WRT furniture, and just has a very formal yet relaxed feel about it.

Era of Dinosaurs and time of Jesus Christ

I would like to see what really killed the dinosaurs…. Was it actually a meteor, or perhaps meth, aliens or global warming? Plus, I’d love to see a real battle between a T-Rex and a Brontosaurus.

I’d also like to be a witness during the time that Jesus was alive and then crucified.

Regards, Mike

i would like to go back and go out west with lewis &clark, see the west before manifest destiny when it was still untouched

I would love to visit the 1870s thru the early 1900s. The Old West...Dodge City...Tombstone etc. But would be nice to visit several different eras just to get a "real" feel for how things were back then.

Are we talking about staying or just out of the way observing for a while?

If we're just observing i wanna be there from day one! I wanna see how it all started!

Well, I guess I don't understand what some you want to see. I wouldn't want to see my Lord's suffering, I have the faith that it happened, and that the tomb was empty, that good enough for me. I don't want to see war first hand, or the depression with all it's misery. I'd just go to the sixties, and be a surfer dude in SoCal around 63, see the San Francisco scene and the Fillmore around 66-67, the Monterry Pop Festival, and then Woodstock in 1969. I remember all that stuff back then, but I was just a kid and young teen then. The Summer of Love and the sexual revolution, yeah baby!

I didn't even consider the '60s music scene. Maybe Liverpool and Germany in the early sixties, follow a little known band around for a while........

20 years from now. I'd like to find out if there's anything I can do today that would make this a better place for my children to live and raise their family.

I'd like go back a month or so, when Powerball hit $300 Million +. With the winning numbers of course.

ONLY if I would be returning to today.
I'd go forward to the day after the next Jackpot (in Canada) or the US Powerball, to get the winning numbers
and return and buy me a ticket.
