If you had 1,000 Bucks??

Guess I misunderstood. I thought the grand would be for something I did not already have or does not exist. Oh well. So here goes:

Custom Model 65, SB AND RB, 2" bbl.
Rig: Bianchi pocket suede IWB pouch

The late 'smith Andy Cannon used to make these up, he did great work, I'm told, on 'street' revolvers.

Crankin Bass, Jack said "You can pay $1000 but you don`t need to" which I have recently found to be true. Had my heart set on pre lock pre mim pre machined cylinder stop 686. Knew they went for about $800 or more here in MA. Kept hunting til I saw one on line and drove straight to the shop. 686-3 2.5 barrel with uber desirable finger groove combats, $675.75 out the door. Realized he over charged because agreed on $590 before taxes. Went back and got 4 speed loaders for the difference. Moral of my long winded story is if you have a grand laying around for another toy shop shop shop around your thousand dollar gun may cost you a lot less. Joe Mac p.s. my vote is for a 686 pre lock what ever you spend on it.

If I had a $1,000 bucks I would go get a 642 w/o the lock and call it good.....oh yeah, and still have a nice wad of cash

I like your list. But I would recommend few changes. 1) the LCR should be the 357. The extra 4 oz help with recoil, but it's still plenty light. 2) I wouldn't put the CT on the LCR (due to shooting comfort), I would instead go with tritium sights 3) I wouldn't go with anything with an exposed hammer if there was any chance of ever pocket carrying.

My EDC is the 357 LCR. It'll shoot sub-3" groups (sometimes sub 2.5" groups) at 20 yards. And it's reliable. I rarely shoot 357s in it as it beats the p**s out of me when I do.:( It would be better with night sights though.

I do agree the LCR in .357 is a good choice, but personally when I've fire a .357 in rapid succession, I tend to lose accuracy quicker. Truthfully it's a tough call to weigh stopping power vs target placement. I am also partial to hot load .38 so its a toss up. I also agree an exposed hammer in a pocket holster is a bad idea but for the Chief I would be rocking an inverted shoulder holster. I wear button ups majority of the time so it wouldn't be hard to conceal and I do like the ability to cycle a cylinder without unhousing it. In my old Rossi .38 I ran 2 pepper rounds with 3 FTX Crit. Defense's. Sounds weird I know but in the woods with boar, a pepper round will do you more good than a .44 mag will. :P

I have at least 3 carry pieces depending on dress, activity etc
the one that works almost always is an M&p 340 I bought used for 600$, in a Lobo Gunleather Clip on IWB holster made out of horsehide, for less than 100$, use the rest for ammo, or save up for another gun.

Since I already have four conceal carry revolvers (all Smiths) and one auto I don't need anymore. :)

I would get a matched set of vintage pinned-barrel model 36, 37, and 60 Chief Specials, and carry each of the two days a week....and all three on sunday! Plus a few good holsters. That'd probably run closer to $1500 than 1000 when the dust settles, but what the hell.
In reality, I already have holsters and a pair each of 36's & 60's- what I need now is a nice 37 airweight Chief. Bob the hammer & slick up the action a bit and I'd be good to go for less than $500.

That's probably going to be about what I have tied up in a custom that's being built right now, especially if I get the Milt Sparks PMK I'm considering.

It's a 681 I bought with this in mind. My gun smith has shortened it to 3" and given it a round butt. He's also converted it to DA only, bobed the hammer and smoothed the narrow trigger for DA work. Fixed rear notch will be widened and deeper than it came from the factory and the front will be replaced by a Novak Mega Dot Tritium sight. The whole thing will be fine bead blasted and will come home wearing Hogue Bantam grips which fit my hand perfectly.

Where do I sign up for that $1000 to reimburse the checking account? (smile)

Three inch 696 with either a C&S Extreme Duty Fixed Rear Sight or D&L fixed rear sight. Buy ammo with any funds left over.

Hey Pharmer! Cool gun. Those grips are from Sile, with fiberglass inserts instead of metal like Pachs. Superior because they weigh much less. How long have you had them?

Nice to meet another NRA Life Member. I'm a Benefactor.

K49, I bought 6 pair from CDNN I want to say 4 years back (probably 10). Most folks that try em like em. So I have 3 pair left. I think I paid $6, should have cleaned them out. Joe

That's why the 357 LCR is so nice. You can load those hot 38s and you'll have no issues. And it's still only 17oz. Like I said earlier, I don't shoot many 357s out of mine.

BTW, if I had $1000, I'd probably buy a 3" 686. But I don't really think that's the ultimate CCW. I just want one.:D

I like to carry my CC revolver in my front pocket. So I'd go with this 642-1 pro-series cut for moonclips. If I was packing IWB and/or wanted something hotter, I'd go with this 60-9 in a Galco tuc-n-go so I can tuck my shirt over it. Those are hogue bantam grips on the 60-9.

You can pay $1000 but you don`t need to .
The Ruger LCR .357 with Crimson Trace= perfect pocket pistol.

The LCR is fine with or without the laser.
It's hard to beat for a pure pocket rocket and has an awesome trigger as well.

Adding laser grips to my 351c would put me over 4 figures. Crazy times we live in.

Actually I don't carry a revolver for concealed carry except for those 100 degree days when it's shorts and tee shirt time and then I have a S&W Model 36 somewhere on me. The rest of the time I carry a $500 Sig P228 with 16 rounds of 9mm hollow points on me.
