Any 5 S&W Revolvers what would they be? What are some cant miss out on models that everyone should have in their collections? Taking into consideration looks, design, performance, reliability. What would your 5 models be?

.38 M&P 5" blued diamonds half moon front sight
Model 10-6 4" nickel
Model 29 6 1/2" blued P&R
Model 629 5"
Model 642

Since I could only pick five, I had to leave out some important guns including a 34 and a 36.

#1 K-22, either a 4 inch/Model 18 or a 6 inch/Model 14.

#2 Combat Magnum/Model 19 or 66.

#3 Chiefs Special/Model 36 or 60.

#4 .44 Magnum/Model 29.

#5 9mm Model 39 or 59.

If you don't like semiautomatics, I would understand replacing the 9mm with something else, probably a .38 Special Military & Police/Model 10..

They are mine

M586 2-1/2" barrel
M629 7-1/2" barrel, unfluted cylinder
M19 2-1/2" barrel - nickel
M686 6-1/2" barrel with Patridge front sight
M29 4" barrel blue, presentation case & NIB

All are pre-lock :) :) :).

I have got to start with a 29-2. I really like the 4" version but the 6.5" is the quintessential S&W (or at least in my opinion). Then, since I've become a competition Junkie the 5" 610 (Icore), 5" 627 PC (Steel Challenge), 4" 625 (Icore and IDPA) 3" 66 (IDPA, PCCA, and actual concealed carry)

I don't collect just to have a collection, so the ones I list would be considered "working" guns that I'm interested in. All would be no-lock versions.

If I had to choose 5 different revolvers, my picks would be, in no particular order:

640 no-dash
642-1
4" 64 RB w/ factory bobbed/DAO hammer
2" 12-4 RB w/ bobbed/DAO hammer (preferably factory version)
2" 64 RB w/ factory bobbed/DAO hammer

However, I like the idea of having duplicates to function as back-ups in case of repairs and to spread out wear-and-tear. In that case, my choices would be:

Two 640 no-dash revolvers
Three 642 no-lock revolvers

The 5 five guns would be set up to be as identical as possible.

If I had to pick five from the ones I own now:

Model 60 no dash 2"
Model 34-1 2"
Model 19-3 4"
Model 10-5 4"
Pre-Model 17

1, 29 with 6" barrel,..... SS alternate 629-1 MG with 4" barrel
2, 27 with 5" barrel......SS alternate 686 with 4" barrel
3, 19 with 4" barrel......SS alternate 66 with 4" barrel
4, 18 with 4" barrel......SS alternate 617 with 4" barrel
5, 37 with 2" barrel......SS alternate 649 with 2" barrel

Model 10 38 special
Model 36 38 special
Model 624 6.5" bbl 44 special
Model 24-3 4" bbl 44 special
Model 24-3 3" bbl 44 special
Guess you could say I like the 44 special cartridge. Frank

14-3
17
24-3
27-2
29-2

All in blue with 6 to 6 1/2 " front ends. Hard to leave out the following, though..........

25-2
Pre Model 14 4-screw 1957
57
14-6
Pre Model 17 narrow rib one-liner

All in blue with 6 to 6 1/2" front ends. Yep, that's ten I would want instead of five. I could say the other five were the wife's, couldn't I? ; )

2" J Frame 5-Shot .357 (640-1)
3" K Frame 6-Shot .357 (66)
4" L Frame 7-Shot .357 (686-4P)
5" N Frame 8-Shot .357 (627)

Note how these increase in length, frame size and capacity. But maybe the 5th gun would be the Governor or something unusual...?
