Ignoring The 4 Rules--And Consequences!

I don't guess he ever got the same sage advice I got as a child to treat every gun as if it were loaded and not to point it at anything you don't want to see dead.

All the training in the world is worthless if your going to mix alcohol with gun powder. Such a stupid senseless thing to do. Terrible thing.

Assuming the guy recovers enough to go back on active duty, would you want him covering your son's back? As in many cases we are judged not by the good we do, but by that one great lapse of judgment.

Well ya never know...It could happen to any of us. Just sayin'

That might be true if you were referring to getting hit by a drunk driver, but if I thought it possible I might do something like this I'd sell all my guns and never touch one again. There's absolutely no reason, no excuse, for this to happen. None.

Ignoring some of the above posts.....

Prayers sent for his family, and his Team.

Here, Hold my beer...........

Why on God's green earth would you point it at your head?????? I'd bet my life on my firearms, But I am NOT going to point it at anyone or anything to prove the safety works!!!!! I feel bad for him, but that was just STUPID. I guess he's a fan of the Darwin Awards......Sorry I can't show more sympathy for his "mistake". THANK GOD HE DIDN'T SHOOT HER!!!!!!!!---AND, ...,AND.....another reason for anti-gun people to look down on responsible gun owners as a "trained-professional" pulled some act of ignorance such as this.......................:(

I feel really sorry for the poor girl who had to witness that. If I read the stories correctly she asked him to put the guns up and he did what he did to prove it was unloaded. She'll have visions of that for the rest of his life.

Honestly, my attitude towards him is pretty much loathing right now. I'm not going to go so far as to say he deserved it, but I will say if he can't control his liquor and act like a big boy, then there are consequences to pay. Better him than the girl or someone else.

I despise people who pull **** like that - you know that isn't the first time he whipped out his guns to show how cool he is. Or was...

Yep, I feel bad for the girl who has that image and experience seared into her memory. My question is how did someone so stupid get selected for and make it through SEAL training? I'd like to think our best and brightest are a little smarter than this.

Dave is being sarcastic, folks.

Hey Arlo,
How ya doin'? I've saw things happen in the past, that I would never believe could happen.

I'm hoping so.

It truly saddens me that this young man would put his live in jeopardy...I pray that it might be God's will for his speedy recovery.

With that being said, one of my former team mates from the warrant squad, accidentally shot himself under similar circumstances.

This guy was the last person I would think something like this would happen too.
He was a decorated SF operator before becoming a dope detective and high risk warrant team member.

I hate hearing about young men being injured or killed.

With the handling of arms, one should never let familiarity breed contempt.

Just one momentary lapse can cost a life...I'm not casting the first stone on this one.

Su Amigo,
Dave

And to people you would never believe it could happen to - right? It's best not to get too arrogant about this. It's a tragedy. Self-generated one, for sure, but still a tragedy. If you have booze and guns together in any one place, bad things can and do happen. Most of us get through our lives without a similar tragedy - thank God. :o

Our skeet club allows booze on the premises. I have always been against it. Sure, the guys are finished shooting before they break out the beers. Fine. But why not just go elsewhere and have a drink? If the guns and the booze aren't on club property at the same time, you know an alcohol-related accident is not going to happen. I am in the minority on this, and the tailgate drinkers view me accordingly. I don't really much care.
