Illinois has 'home rule', and no pre-emption laws. Even if IL did pass a concealed carry law, Chicago would make it illegal under home rule.....
I left Apartheid Chicago in '86. I got my Ohio CHL last year. I carry EVERYWHERE I can here. I go back once a year to visit my elderly mother. I can't stand it more often than that. I'm not especially happy chauffering my relatives around the South Side of Chicago late at night WITHOUT a gun. At Christmas dinner, I showed some of my relatives my Ohio CHL. It amazed them that I actually had the right to defend myself, not just at home, but outside. They also apparently had no idea that police have no legal duty to protect individuals. But after all, it's Chicago, kind of like North Korea with a really nice fountain...Originally posted by t0066jh:
It's amazing what things have come to. I used to spend winters in AZ while living in Illinois. Since I was a part time resident, I got an AZ CCW. Driving home in the Spring I'd carry concealed thru AZ, N Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and then Missouri...all perfectly legal. Then I was supposed to stop at the JB bridge to Illinois and lock up the gun...emphasis on supposed to. It was only 20 miles to home so the hell with it.
Now I'm full time in AZ and don't come back very often.
Good luck to you Illinois folks
Joe
