My guess is it will be send higher yet again. Chicago has no intention of not acting like it's the state capitol.

Wow, I am surprised and pleased. It is about damn time that the right to be armed is recognized in the same light as freedom of speech. We are winning the culture war...
Twenty years ago carrying concealed was some difficult obstacle few could accomplish. Now we only have a few tyrannical strongholds left to conquer. Notably, those places also have some of the worst per capita homicide rates.

My guess is that if the STATE OF ILLINOIS passes such a law, it will be 1. So expenisve (10,000 for a CCW five years of training, a complete medical including a psych exam) etc.etc. and 2. So restrictive, (no carrying in public places after 6pm and before 5:45PM) or on the Holidays, within 50 miles of a school, well you get my point....that it will be tied up in law suits for the next 56 years.... Trust me folks, Illinois is not going to go down easily......The State fears an armed population, because it threatens their absolute power over you...which is why the 2nd was passed in the first place.

A baby step I am sure. IL will without a doubt appeal to the US Supreme court where they don't have a prayer (IMO), but they will appeal anyway. Perhaps the Supremes will just say "no".

The state government isn't anything I would want, but the folks living there are pretty much great. I cannot understand why they keep electing such a poor government.

There's no doubt in my mind Illinois will continue to place an unreasonable strangle hold on it's law abiding citizens when it comes to CCW. Look for similar laws such as those in New York.
As more and more information is coming out, the ruling is very powerful. Apparently, Illinois is already taking heat to NOT appeal the ruling because it could effect the status of states that have the "may issue" and if SCOTUS upholds this ruling, it would require them to change to "shall issue".
The ruling doesn't require the state of Illinois to come up with a carry conceal law, but gives them 180 days to do so if they like. If no law is enacted in 180 days covering CCW, then the ruling goes into effect striking down all bans on CCW. At which point, if you have a FOID, you would then be allowed to carry both open and concealed with only Federal restrictions in place (no carrying in Federal Courthouse, airports, etc.).
It will be interesting because the power in this issue has changed hands. Prior to this ruling those that wanted to have strict gun control had enough votes to keep from getting a super majority (what was required to overturn a Governor veto). Now, there is enough votes to prevent any bill that they don't want to pass from getting through and then the ruling goes into effect. It gives the carry conceal side more power to negotiate for a reasonable bill instead of Chicago just shoving something down the throat of the state

When I lived in PA the state had CCW permits that were actually pretty easy to get. However Philadelphia and Pittsburgh had the idea that their local laws trumped state law. I moved away 40 years ago, but I hear it is about the same.
I would be surprised if Chicago allows concealed carry for anyone but LEOs and politicians.

Reading as many articles as I can, it is one of the few times where Chicago has their hands tied. If Chicago fails to work with the southern leaders and come up with a reasonable law, the southern leaders can fail to pass any bill and the court ruling goes into effect. All you need is a FOID card and you would be good to go.
Just goes to show you there is still some hope for the good guys.

The only way Illinois is going to get concealed carry is to blow Cook county into Lake Michigan! There are not enough votes in the legislature to pass anything approaching a good CC law.

Glad to hear that. How difficult do you suppose it will be for a resident to get a permit? I'm thinkin' it will still be nigh on to impossible to "qualify".
