Illinois gun ban?

Illinois

I got this today from Guns Save Life/ Champaign County Rifle Association. They usually don't issue this type of message. Illinois(Chicago) is already bad enough with out further ineffective laws.

Call Sen. Cullerton's office.

Call your representative and your senator. Do it. Do it NOW. View this email in your browser

Call Now! Gun grabbers have gone wild... 50/50 chance of bad bill passing.
Bills to ban all modern firearms, magazine bans, regulating shooting ranges out of existence... the list goes on and on...

It's URGENT.

First up: Put this number in your phone: (217) 782-2728.

That's Sen. President John Cullerton's office number in Springfield. Call it now and again in a few hours. Have your friends do the same, and we'll tell you why:

It's a very dynamic time in the Illinois General Assembly and the dynamic is swinging against gun owners' rights. This is why you MUST call right now on these new bills which would ban modern firearms, magazines and regulate shooting ranges out of existence.

The NRA's point-man in Springfield, Todd Vandermyde says it may be as high as a 50-50 chance that one or more of these anti-gun bills may be rammed through.
Senator John Cullerton, the president of the Illinois Senate, feels the time is right for a comprehensive gun ban here in Illinois. This would include all semi-automatic firearms and pump action rifles and shotguns.

This is a "turn them in or go to jail" bill. There's no grandfathering or exemptions. Everything from America's favorite rifle down to your deer-slug Remington 870 would be banned. Your Colt 1911 would be banned, too.

Repeating: ALL SEMI-AUTOS would be banned. As would pump action rifles and shotguns.

Also, as we mentioned, the dynamic is changing rapidly.

Anti-gun forces are tossing everything and the kitchen sink into these proposals which will be slipped into an existing shell bill and rammed through, potentially in the dead of night just as Illinois passed the 67% income tax increase in the last few hours of the previous session.

Among the other proposals being floated, according to Vandermyde:

* Any range open to the public would have to be run by a federally licensed firearm dealer - and they would be licensed and regulated ad nauseum by the Illinois State Police. Also, the range would be open ONLY to club members, period.

* A separate magazine ban bill is also being floated which would ban all mags over 10 rounds. Rumor has it this is the true goal as Chicago Democrats spread out the gun defense as thin as possible with this talk of banning all modern firearms.

* Repeal of the FOID Act provision which allows non-FOID holders to attend firearm training in Illinois.

Don't get angry. Do something.

Call your state representative and senator to express your displeasure with these proposals.

Tell them:
* No GUN BANS.
* No new gun laws.
* No magazine bans.
Don't know your representative's numbers? We can help. Click here.

Gun owners nationwide are encouraged to call Cullerton's offices, particularly the one in Springfield: (217) 782-2728

His Chicago office number: 773-883-0770

Share this email with your gun owner friends, family and on social networking websites.

This is really important stuff.

From a fellow Illinois resident, yes it is very real. The Illinois State Rifle Association monitors the Illinois House & Senate for anti-gun bills.

ISRA said:
CULLERTON TO INTRODUCE NEAR TOTAL GUN BAN ON JANUARY 2ND

The ISRA has learned from a credible source that Illinois Senate President John Cullerton will introduce a so called "assault weapons" ban on Wednesday when the legislature returns for its "lame duck" session. Cullerton hopes to ramrod the bill through and get it to Governor Quinn for signature by Friday. If he is successful at doing so, nearly every gun you currently own will be banned and will be subject to confiscation by the Illinois State Police.

Based on what we know about Cullerton's bill, firearms that would be banned include all semiautomatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns. Pump action shotguns would be banned as well. This would be a very comprehensive ban that would include not only so-called "assault weapons" but also such classics as M1 Garands and 1911-based pistols. There would be no exemptions and no grandfathering. You would have a very short window to turn in your guns to the State Police to avoid prosecution.

Being an Illinois Resident, you know that the jack-hole City of Chicago has the population density to basically control the State Government. Illinois, in particular Cook County, has been a traditional leftist Democratic haven.

We have Mayor Rahm Emmanuel, a staunch gun control advocate & understudy of President Obama. We have Governor Pat Quinn, former lieutenant Governor who took over after the Blago nightmare. Pat Quinn suckles at the teat of the City of Chicago for votes.

We have many leftist Illinois Senators who were voted out of office, with nothing to loose, now trying to push through anti-gun legislation. The Illinois Senate President is trying to ram this through to Quinn for quick approval.

What can you do?

1. Join the ISRA. That way you don't have to rely upon 2nd hand reporting. Get information on proposed Illinois Legislation regarding firearms straight from the people on the ground. Your donation helps keep the fight going on in Illinois.

2. Write your Illinois Representative & Senator. Call them. Pester them. I'm writing every day. Illinois Senator Dan Duffy's office replied to me, and not a form letter either.

I'm in the NW Burbs too. Maybe I'll bump into you at a range.

Hello Illinois neighbor to the south where the sane people live! I had no idea that Champain County had a county-level Rifle Association.

I'm now searching the net to see if there is a Lake County Rifle Association. If there is, I'm joining.

Guns Save Life started in Champaign County and puts up the "burma shave" type signs along the interstates. There is now a "chapter" in Pontiac and Effingham. Guns Save Life.com

Guess they didnt see the recent court case which told Illinois and Chicago to go pound sand...

I figure it'll be another 2 years before true C&C exists in Illinois, provided we don't get screwed by Chicago somehow. The legal and political wrangling is far from over.

Saw this earlier, my wife has family (trapped behind enemy lines) up there. Sent them all messages earlier. If it passes. Head South we'll link up in friendly territory and I'll hide your guns, in the free State of Tennessee.

It passed a committee last night. Current *rumor* is that this bill will die on the Senate floor. God I hope so. The NRA is cautiously optimistic.

The Dims are really showing their true colors. Not that most here didn't already know. Let's hope that their extreme demands will be a wake up call to voters (hey, I can hope, right?).

I have called my Senator he is a Republican and pro gun. I know what his vote will be. We really need to just turn Chicago into its own entity like DC is. This would be a red state if it weren't for those idiots up there!

They have pulled their bills....for now at least. Trying to call this a "gun safety" bill is laughable. This from The Truth About Guns:

It is clear that we will need bipartisan support in order to take floor votes on gun safety and marriage equality this week. We will take some time to work on these important issues to advance them in the near future.
The executive committee has been delayed, but we still intend to hold a hearing on marriage equality shortly.

As an Illinois resident it absolutley infuriates me as to what nonsense our representatives are willing to spend time and money on. Everything I have read states that guns would have to be registered. Maybe I'm wrong, but what is this card in my wallet called a FOID for? Hey Illinois House/Senate, WORK ON REAL PROBLEMS!

Can people gather together and push for a split of Illnois into two states, one for Chicago and one for other part of Illinois?
Samething for NY state!
