Illinois gun ban?

That's about what I'd expect out of Durbin. Or any Chicago politician.

Gotta love this "without infringing on legitimate hunting and sporting uses of firearms" bit. Since when does the 2nd Amendment have a single thing to do with hunting or sports? Seriously? "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." It's ok to shoot animals and targets, but I don't have the right to defend myself? That is not what the 2nd Amendment says or implies. His position has nothing to do with logic. It's about controlling the population and staying in office.

He says just enough to make people that have no knowledge of guns but are on the fence on the issue of gun control think "oh, he's being reasonable! We can trust him!".

Because trusting Chicago politicians has panned out SO WELL for our state...

I got a response from IL Senate President Cullerton. All boilerplate..... I wouldn't be surprised if any further emails from me go right into the spam folder. This was after I told his secretary that I was so pi$$ed I would sell my home and move to a state where they welcome freedom & liberty.

Thank you for your recent communication regarding semi-automatic weapon legislation.

I, along with my staff, will take the time to review your thoughts on this matter when it is presented in the Senate.

I often tell my constituents that good government begins with listening, so I am happy to hear your thoughts and invite your continued interest on any matter that comes before the legislature.

I also welcome you to check for updates on this and other important matters on our caucus Web sitehttp://www.illinoissenatedemocrats.com and on Twitter at @ilsendems.

Again, thank you for contacting my office.
Sincerely,

Senate President John J. Cullerton
6th District – Illinois

^ He'll read your thoughts on the matter when he's already behind it and part of the big push for it? Hah, that's a laugh!
