I'm fond of cats, dogs are nice but require too much attention for my taste. Were down to one old sixteen year old male named Buddy, I'm not ashamed to admit that I am attached to old Buddy and will probably shed a tear when he decides he just ain't having enough fun or gettin enough attention and checks out. Last winter he had some kind of problem that required someone to give him an I.V. once a day for about three weeks, I volunteered and we got through that just fine thank you.
My wife is recovering from rolling her ankle and spiral fracturing her right outside metatarsal just above her small toe while avoiding stepping on Buddy while they were playing around, she never once put any blame on the cat, she just said that "He zigged when I thought he would zag." Thats a cat for you....
We lost Boogey last winter which I think started Buddy on his downfall, he moped around because the two of them were inseperable for all their lives, Buddy's an outlaw and never licensed, Boogey was a rescue from the Humane Society.
My wife and I both like black cats, Buddy looks like he's wearin a Tuxedo. He has white socks and I wanted to call him Socks but my wife won out with Buddy, hes a pal and as close to a dog as a cat can get, follows us around the house, hangs close by, likes to lay between us on the floor when we are in seperate chairs, tends to follow my wife much more than me although right now he is sitting with me in the basement while I type this.
He knows when I'm going to bed and sits on the bed til my wife turns out the light and goes about her business for another couple hours the way she has for over forty years.

My first cat I could have walked like a dog without a leash; she would follow me anywhere. I was young and in a bad place when I ended up with her. My mother had picked her up when someone threw her out of a car my mom was behind. I had just moved back in with my mother, I was homeless, jobless and not really wanting to live, but that kitten smelled so bad that I took to cleaning her with a sponge, not knowing she would attach herself to me because of it. She was with me for the next 16 years, and I still miss her terribly, ten years later.

The Sat before Shasta "died" ( I believe the vets gave her an injection because she was not stiff from having died the night befor elike I was told) these vets have a pension of caring only as long as the cash holds out-even after I told them donations were on the way as well as the loan for $700 I already had. Im seriously thinking of getting some hair samples tested to see if a drug was administered without my permission-and then suing them-now that I have some extra cash. Anyway, I had been prepared to have them put her down that Sat morn-but when I went there-she was on her feet-eating, drinking and staff told me her suger level was down to 200-and that she was getting normal. So, then, I was encouraged and decided to wait to Monday--couldnt visit Sun as they were closed. I find it awfully suspecious that when my loan money begin to run out-so did her treatment.

As far as im concerned-that place-owes me a cat in the least,. When I came to see her moonday, after being notified at 10 am-she had passed away--she was still supple. Ive had about 50 catsin my life time-and though no expert be any stretch--ive had many that died and kinda have a feel on when they get stiff and how long it takes-and it doesnt take but a few hours-not halfor more than a half a day.

Carl I'm very sorry to hear of the attitude of your vet care facality. If I thought that was even remotely possible I'd get me a different vet and I'd check the out from here to there and can to can't. We've been with ours so long that his daughter is now the head cat doctor there and she wasn't even born when we first hooked up with him. it's a great office and you can tell by the way they handle your "friends" that they truly care.

Before you take your new kitty you need to do some shoppin'!

I like cats n dogs.

It's 7am the other morning, the misses is in Maine on a family girl vacation. My yellow lab is going bonkers like I never heard him before at the window. I go and look I catch my 400lb blackbear leaving the bird feeders heading over to my neighbors fruit trees. What a sight. He took his time walking. My point is without the dog I would never know the bear was here. When the bear has been around before my cats walk low to the ground and their heads and ears are going around listening and looking for it as they come in. The dog is the first alarm. He could save your life.

Dogs and bears have a mutual hatred for each other that is probably one of the oldest grudge matches in the world...Bears and Vikings forget about it. Nothing comes close, dogs and cats is one thing but dogs and bears is tops when it comes to a solid mutually shared hatred. I've never heard of a dog that could abide being around any bear and vice versa, whereas dogs and cats can be best of pals and it ain't uncommon.

Hi Jack and thank you and yeah, theycompletely lost my trust. When I first went there about 10 years ago-that lady vet was great-I loved how she cared for each individual cat or dog that came through-she was genuine-then she sold out to someone else-who was still good-but lacked a bit-then she sold out to the current ones-who like to play guessing games--which cost me more money than I could afford. I had to borrow money a few months before they allowed Shasta to die-then I had to sell my Rough Riders-then came the loan when I had to rush Shasta in in july.

I think I found another vet--same street but a few miles down-who ive heard is more like a "Dr. McCoy" type of vet-so ill give him a try with the new kitty. 5 more weeks and I get to take custody--and I can hardly wait. Then around Christmas-I think ill get another kitten.

An update of sorts. Lisa could not get my images of Shasta off my other phone--sowhen I have time--I guess ill try Cricket corporate--as they owe me anyway.

Poosey Gato from the strip Gordo.
(They once took all the furniture out of the living room and put a postage stamp in the middle of the floor. Poosey Gato went to sleep on it.)
