Well some of u know that I live here in Louisiana. As well as know that the flooding impacted my city the worst around here. I'm happy to say me and the family are alive and well. I managed to save most of the important stuff. At least the stuff that I knew couldn't be replaced. My house is one of the highest homes on our street. And I hate to say that I got 3 feet of water in my house. Most of my neighbors and this city didn't come out as well. Both my neighbors beside me have 7 feet of water in their homes. It appears most of the homes here will be a total loss. That's going by what FEMA has already declared on a lot of the homes........and just so u all know. The majority of lives in this city as well as this Parish (County as u may call them) were already saved my friends or neighbors. Long before the government ever stepped in to help rescue people. I spent all of that Friday night as well as most of that Saturday morning rescuing people. Only to find my home taking on water early that Saturday morning. If we would have sat back and waited in our government. Like the people did in 2005 during Katrina. The loss of life would have been very bad. Sadly 13 people lost their lives but thousands more were saved while the government was still working on getting here. This just goes to show that "the people" can and will rely on each other when that time comes......I'll get pics up when I can.

I am never more proud of my fellow Americans than I am reading stories like this. Out rescuing other folks... Bravo!!! I hope you have a swift and painless recovery from the damage.

My prayers go out to you and your community. I am presently digging out from severe flood damage and if not for the help of my community and this forum, I don't think I could recover.

I have a long, arduous road ahead of me but I am blessed that I don't have to travel it alone.

Having now experienced firsthand the destructive power of water, I will never take it lightly again.

I wish you well.

The Springs

Sister in law in Denham Springs was spared literally at her doorstep. Took in her family and immediately took in laundry of the less fortunate. Real sweetheart, talk to her daily, good luck, God bless

That is where I live also. Herea what the interstate looks like due to a stupid concrete wall the built between east and west bound lanes. Keep in mind our city is on the side with the water. As u can see, we may as well have been in a fish bowl. Other picture is my road in front of my house as I was just getting to my house.

Glad to hear that you are still with us.

About two weeks ago or so there was a radio talk show host who was interviewing someone from the "Cajun Navy", a spontaneous volunteer group who used their personal boats to save people. A LOT of people. In the middle of disaster you had lots of good folks who stepped up to the challenge.

Says a lot about the character of the people down there.
