Yesterday I received an urgent plea in the mail from the NRA for yet another contribution. Enclosed was an "All In" poker chip to carry as a reminder how high the stakes are this year for all gun owners.
I sometimes get weary of the NRA's constant barrage of mail on the importance of sending money this year to help defeat anti-freedom candidates from the top down. I've contributed, and contributed often, sometimes until it hurts.
So I let that chip sit on my desk, together with the reply envelope, and decided to sleep on it.
This morning I woke up, not only to the sunlight, but also to the realization that the NRA is right. If we lose the Presidential election this year, we can all kiss our Second Amendment rights goodbye. We are just one Supreme Court Justice appointment away from having the 2d Amendment dumped onto the trash heap of history. It's a certainty that whoever wins the Presidency will be appointing at least one replacement for any of the superannuated incumbents on the Court.
This morning I sent in yet another contribution. I could do more, but I could do no less. We all tend to invest heavily in our guns, equipment and ammo, but can we balk at investing in the future of our freedoms?
I know these constant requests are trying, but they are necessary. I'm definitely "All In" with the NRA in this election year. They proved their clout in the '94 elections and they can do it again, but only if you help provide the needed funds.
Can you be counted on, too? Your fellow Second Amendment supporters want to know.
