Yesterday I received an urgent plea in the mail from the NRA for yet another contribution. Enclosed was an "All In" poker chip to carry as a reminder how high the stakes are this year for all gun owners.

I sometimes get weary of the NRA's constant barrage of mail on the importance of sending money this year to help defeat anti-freedom candidates from the top down. I've contributed, and contributed often, sometimes until it hurts.

So I let that chip sit on my desk, together with the reply envelope, and decided to sleep on it.

This morning I woke up, not only to the sunlight, but also to the realization that the NRA is right. If we lose the Presidential election this year, we can all kiss our Second Amendment rights goodbye. We are just one Supreme Court Justice appointment away from having the 2d Amendment dumped onto the trash heap of history. It's a certainty that whoever wins the Presidency will be appointing at least one replacement for any of the superannuated incumbents on the Court.

This morning I sent in yet another contribution. I could do more, but I could do no less. We all tend to invest heavily in our guns, equipment and ammo, but can we balk at investing in the future of our freedoms?

I know these constant requests are trying, but they are necessary. I'm definitely "All In" with the NRA in this election year. They proved their clout in the '94 elections and they can do it again, but only if you help provide the needed funds.

Can you be counted on, too? Your fellow Second Amendment supporters want to know.

John

Yessir, I'm All In, also. Couldn't send a lot, but sent what I was comfortable with. You make tons of great points.

I am skeptical of all "they want to do this extreme thing" viewpoints, but this is one where I've done a fair amount of homework on Obama's positions on guns, esp. his voting record in the Illinois Senate, and I am convinced he is the most anti-gun President in history. I also know he has a good deal of power through executive/administrative powers and has already shown in numerous areas he's not afraid to use that power when legislation fails.

He's an ideologue, and he talked openly of seeing himself as a man to carry forth the ideology he follows. He has yet to show any real change in views from his pre-Presidential positions so I see no reason to think he has in this area. His pre-Presidential views including voting against any kind of conceal carry for civilians, supporting the Chicago handgun ban, the FOID card for ammo purchases, and in his "position card" supporting banning all semiauto weapons. There's more but those are the highlights.

I do not know if he would have the political clout to facilitate enacting new laws, but I have no desire to find out. I do know he has the power to elect Supreme Court justices and just one changed vote in this area and we're back to SCOTUS saying the 2nd Amendment is just talking about militias.

I don't agree with the NRA on all issues, but I agree they are a potentially powerful force in this election and I agree with their political goals in this election, so I support them where I can.

I don't want to find out who is right and who is wrong in the "he's going to take your guns" debate. I'd prefer we not give him a chance and spend the rest of our days speculating.

I fully agree with the above and I'm "all in" as well. I wear my chip on a lanyard around my neck for all to see.

I'm ALL IN.........

The NRA needs the money! Do you have any idea how many legal issues they are fighting every day??? Dozens.........and they cost big bucks.

Four million members of the NRA can make a big difference with just a few dollars each in the pot!

Hopefully after November we can back off for a while....Just need to get rid of Harry Reid, the KaliforniaStan twins in the senate, brother Shumer,... OK, we can't back off..

Go All In..............for $20.

As an Endowment member of the NRA and have been a Life member since 1970 it is a pleasure to contribute what I can to protect and keep my right to own firearms and to enjoy the sport. I got my chip and contributed, will you?

pdcampy and I are on the same page - "it is a pleasure to contribute what I can to protect and keep my right to own firearms and to enjoy the sport".

Just sent a Benjamin.
I could easily see the 2nd Amendment being subverted by the Supreme Court deciding that, to possess a (insert gun here), a person would have to be accepted for militia duty by somebody like Holder or Bloomburg.

am i "ALL IN" ?....you bet your brass i am....got my poker chip about two weeks ago and stuffed a check into the envelope and send it back to the NRA

EVERYONE needs to join and/or contribute to the NRA NOW....they are the biggest gun we have to defend ourselves..

I feel cheated. I just gave what I could a week or two ago over the phone, and I didn't get a poker chip.
I try to donate a bit extra to pay for a Serviceman's membership too.
I wish I could do more, but I'm grateful that I'm able to do what I do.

I always do what I can to support the NRA. When I think about what happened in Germany and you see what can happen to a population that loses the ability to defend themselves against their government, its a very scary situtation. I wish the gun grabbers would research history and see what can happen if you lose your ability to defend your freedom. The thought of a wife and children being marched into the "showers" is something to think about. Death is not the worst thing that can happen to you.....losing your ability to defend yourself and seeing your loved ones subjected to things we would all rather not discuss is a fate far worse than death. Its one thing to lose your life fighting for freedom...its another thing to be subjected to treatment or having friends and family subjected to terror.....Too many people do not realize what losing our guns could lead to....not saying that would happen....but if you look at history...it can happen and it could happen here. My firearms are a guarantee of my freedom and many good men have died so that the rest of us can live free.....I will not let them down and give away my freedom no matter what power thinks they can trample our second amendment rights.
