I've been toying with the idea of buying a semiauto, after having spent years and years shooting revolvers. I've discovered rather quickly that there's a lot I didn't know -- single action vs. double action vs. double/single action -- hammer actuated versus striker fired. I've been trying out various guns over the last few weeks and, frankly, none of them really excited me. Until today, that is. Today I fired an M & P 9mm and it was love at first trigger pull. What a revelation! The trigger was a delight, the gun pointed easily, the recoil was minimal, and best of all, I actually shot it reasonably accurately. All of this with a range gun that had about 20,000 rounds through it. What really intrigued me is that I fired the compact model. I have big hands and terrible vision and I don't really shoot well with revolvers that are smaller than K frames or with barrel lengths under 4 inches. But, this little semiauto performed like a champ for me. I can't wait to try out the full size model.

They're really good pistols. I have a compact 9mm, full 9mm and full size .45. In some ways I like the 9mm compact best although the .45 is proving to be a superb pistol especially after a trigger job by Dan Burwell.

I been carrying the fs .40 and compact .40 for quite some time now and love them. At least one of them is attached to my body at all times.

I have both the fullsize .45 and the compact 9mm, and they're both terrific! The .45 carries like a lightweight 1911, and the 9 disappears under an untucked shirt.

I have both of the M&P 9mms (full and compact) and love them both.

The 9c is my favorite carry gun, but otherwise I couldn't choose which of them I prefer most.

Definitely buy one and enjoy!

Down the road, think about a CT laser grip as well.

Bought a full size .45 about 4 months ago----liked it so well last week I bought a 9c as my concealed carry piece. They are very fine weopons!

I also have an M&P 9C and use it as my carry weapon. I recently purchased the Desantis speed scabbard from the S&W website. The holster is made just for the M&P conceals well with just about anything. Can't go wrong with this combo.

My primary duty sidearm is a M&P 45 ACP and cannot tell you how happy I am to have a S&W at my side again.
