I've always admired the look of the Uberti revolvers, but kept telling myself that I didn't care for single-action revolvers...Ignore the fact that I've probably owned a dozen or so over the years.
Anyway, I saw this one...at the LGS a few weeks ago. At first I thought it was stuck in the wrong case with the 22's but it turned out to be a "Cattleman" I think, by Uberti for Taylors in Winchester, Va. It was a six-shooter, not a 12. I don't think a 12 would have interested me, but the "six-gun" caught my imagination. It was tagged at $400. I got it for $350, which I figured couldn't be too bad these days.
It's at least a nice looking gun, and being the same size as the full sized saa type guns it's pretty heavy, but the only way I'll carry it is in a range bag, so that doesn't matter much. The trigger breaks at 2.5 pounds.
I took it to the range a couple of days later and put about 50-75 rounds through it. The range was only 7 yards, but I was too lazy to change it. Shooting seated, with my eblows rested on the bench.
Ammo was CCI mini-mags, 40 solids that I have been carrying around in the range bag for a while. It seems to put them where I was looking. I'll run the target back a little more next time.
As an aside, I took my wife's Ruger 50th anniversary Single-Six along to use as a "control." I don't shoot that one a lot, but for me it's at least minute of tin can accurate. It too is a fixed sight gun, and a little smaller/lighter than the Uberti.

The trigger on the Ruger was heavier a 4.5 pounds, but seemed to shoot just as well, even if I shot it to the left a bit more. Next time it might be different.
