I just purchased a new M&P 15-T, through Gunbroker. It cost me $730 plus $20 for shipping. It was a new in the box, CA compliant model, with the bullet button and a 10 round mag. I knew it was a great price, and I was lucky to be the high bidder, at that low of price. If you are careful, there are some good deals available on Gunbroker, but I never bid higher than I plan, as I don't want to get into a bidding war. I've already purchased 6 Magpul 30 round Pmags, that were on sale at Midway, 3 for $36 with free shipping. I got an extra $10 off promotion, for a total of $62. I also ordered a mil-spec mag release button and spring, to replace the bullet button release. I live in Florida, and don't need that compliant release that is required in only a few states.

I must say this 15-T is nice. I thought the quad rail would increase the weight, but it did not, as it only weighs 6.5 pounds. Well balanced and the trigger is fantastic. I have had several other ARs', including Colts, Bushmaster, Sig, and DPMSs'. I had to work on all the triggers, to get a good pull. Most were somewhat gritty, with a longer 1/8+ inch pull to a vague break, considerable over-travel, and 6.5+ pounds of trigger pull weight. That is what I have learned to expect from a mil-spec stock trigger. However this rifle has a very short, smooth, 4.5 pound pull. There is hardly any take-up, only about 1/32 inch of sear pull with a super crisp break. and a little over 1/32 inch of over-travel. It is like a custom trigger. Are all the M&P triggers like mine? Maybe I just get lucky and got a trigger than somehow all the parts mated perfectly? I don't have to do anything to this trigger, it is that good, and I am a trigger fanatic. The reset is also very short, with the very noticeable reset jump that all ARs' seem to have. The only change I may make is to install a slightly softer trigger spring, to get the pull to slightly less than 4 pounds.

I have a Millett 30mm red dot on order. It has 4 adjustable dot sizes, 3, 5, 8, and 10 MOA. It is not a high dollar model scope, but it has good reviews and saves a lot of cash for ammo. Picked up 500 rounds of fresh Federal 55gr FMJ ammo for $190 delivered to my door, and 200 rounds of Hornady 55gr Z Max Zombie for $145 delivered, both from Gunbroker. I also ordered a Miculek muzzle brake for it. I have a DPMS AR10, and when using my SlideFire stock, the brake is necessary with the 762/308 caliber, to keep the barrel level. It may not be needed for the lighter 556/223 caliber. I don't use the "full auto" SlideFire stock too often, as I don't like burning through that much ammo, and I don't want to overheat the barrel. It is just a novelty item, for the most part. However it works almost like the true full autos. I can control 2, 3, and 4 round bursts, or keep pushing forward and empty a full mag. On my AR10 we have timed it ,and it spits out nearly 600 rpm, 20 rounds in two seconds.

Well done S&W for a great designed rifle.

Congrats on your pickup. I have one myself and I have really enjoyed it. I am curious about your barrel twist thou. Is it 1/8 or the 1/9? Heard they changed it a while back.

Man, you got a great deal. Well bought. Like you, I've been very impressed with my S&W. I don't know what they do to their triggers or how they set them up but mine is the best mil-spec trigger I own. Others are gritty and I hope in time, they smooth out but right out of the box, my S&W trigger was crisp.

Barrel twist is 1/8 5R

For ammunition and or guns, check the Gunbroker auctions. It took about a week to get the 500 rounds of new Federal 55 gr FMJ ammo, at that price. I bid on a lot of ammo, but I get overbid a lot. I set a limit on how much I am willing to pay, including shipping. It is not skill, just looking for the right ammo, at the right price. It's just a case of getting a bid in and no one over bids your price.

I buy most all my handguns, rifles, and most ammunition on Gunbroker. When prices were high, at the beginning of the year, Walmart had the low prices. Now the good Gunbroker deals easily beat Walmart prices. I just got a new in the box $440 Browning Buckmart .22 pistol for $300. The same week I got a new S&W 22A1 pistol, with 7 inch barrel for $250 delivered. The gun shop I use only charges $20 total for transfers. The deals are there, you just have to be patient, and stick to your maximum, don't get caught in a bidding war. Back in March 2013, I bought a Colt SOCOM from Walmart for $1560, including sales tax. I decided I didn't need that expensive of a rifle, so I listed it on Gunbroker. I had a little over $1700 in it as I added an inexpensive red dot and 3 extra Magpul mags. The rifle was new and unfired. I expected to get $1900 to $2000. Two guys got into a bidding war and the final bid was $2500. The winning bidder completed the sale, which surprised me, as I though he would come to his senses and back out. At that time SOCOMs' were very hard to find. I was lucky. I just saw the same new in the box SOCOM go for $1150, which was a great price for the buyer. No I didn't buy it, I have the 15T. There are a lot of good deals that I let pass me by, or should I say pass me BUY.
