Impulse buy - Glock 42 .380

I bought a 42 and 43 blue label and after giving each a good test, sold the 43. I like the 42 for those days you just want to drop it in a jacket pocket or utility side pants pocket. The 42’s accuracy was impressive and with a variety of ammo, I have never had a hiccup.

I'm not sure it exactly counts as "one platform," other than the trigger, since 42 and 43 magazines don't interchange with anything else Glock. Still very nice pistols . . .

The G43 is a great choice especially if you have other Glocks in the house. There is a lot to be said for a one platform arsenal.

The only Glock I still own is the 42. I polished the trigger and got a Ghost connector so the trigger is about as good as a Glock can get.

I agree that because it is just a bit larger than the P3AT and its derivatives it is a bit easier to shoot.

That said, my favorite 380 these days is the LC380 (not LCP). The LC380 is PPK sized with a polymer frame and a light half-cocked DAO only trigger. The slide is incredibly easy to rack - the easiest I have held in my hands. The only problem is Ruger quit making them...

I picked it up today.

Here it is with its spiritual ancestor the Colt Pocket Hammerless, and what may be its direct competitor, the Ruger LCP.

Smaller than the Colt, bigger than the Ruger.

I can't shoot it til next week. I may have to sell some blood or a kidney to get .380 ammo.

After buying (and failing) to pick out a pistol for my Wife, I let her pick out her own. I "thought" the LCP might be a good pistol for her, but she said it was like a mousetrap going off when shooting. It ended up sideways in her hand a couple times. She has had a G42 for years and is quite the shot with it. I was skeptical due to the initial reports, but it has never jammed on her. I will carry it in the summer once in a while because it weighs nothing! It is small, light, accurate and has very little snap and recoil.

Go shoot it with whatever ammo you plan to carry to make sure it works.

Mine works with Fiocchi ball, +P XTP bullet loadings, and Remington Golden Sabre. It won't cycle standard pressure XTP loads. And this is a new production one bought last month.

I also had one when they first came out. Same issues as above. I figured they would have been fixed by now.

But I do like the gun.

A bit too big. I have a M&P380 that I carry EVERYWHERE. Perfect size for pocket carry. Dead reliable with ball and I like the fact that it is a DAO hammer fired rather than striker fired weapon. It is a handful but it goes bang when ya pulls da trigger. I thinkmost ofthe newer 380s made today are locked breach weapons if for nothing else, to reduce the mass that would be needed for blowback actions. I bought it over the Ruger because of the DAO/hammer design. The Glock looks to be the size of my P365 in 9mm.
I'll start carrying the P365 when it gets colder and I can put it in the pocket of my hoodie

I bought both the 42 and 43, like them both. Loaned the 43 e/w a ZEV trigger to my son for of duty carry. Kept the 42 which I have been using as my ECD and it functions 100% so far over the past four years. It's so compact I hardly know it's there. Luckygunner.com lab test will give you a good idea of the various loads available and how they perform. Check it out.

I always had feeding problems with the 42 I had. Bought a 43 instead and have had zero issues.

Feeding problems, off to factory, came back, feeding problems.
Now days an LCP improved first gen rides in the pocket, flawless ammo digestion, accurate enough, forget it's there.

I was quite surprised as to how well the G42 did in a side-by-side accuracy comparison with others in this video.

Obviously one example is not a scientific sample size.

I’m with mine today. This pocket holster from Blackhawk works well. I’m carrying 2 extra rounds in the magazine with a Taran Tactical Mag base. And I put it in my door cup holder for easy access while driving. Works well for me.
