In the dog house...again!

I like the groundhog blaming idea. Especially if it would require a new Smith & Wesson as just the right tool for eradication.

Don't know if apple trees are like pecan trees. We planted a couple of small pecans last year and I promptly forgot and mowed one. It wasn't any taller than the weed stalks and I overlooked it.

I poured the water to it for a few weeks and it came back. Is fine this year and is tall enough to not be mistaken for a weed.

I agree that if the tree was still a twig after three years that it likely needed to be put out of its misery.

Go for the new Smith & Wesson! It'll make you feel better.

Just a tidbit of info. Pecan trees are much more "agreeable" to seedling planting than apple trees are. You'll probably be ok with pecan seedlings, except for the possible large size. Time will tell.

Apple trees are alot different when it comes to seedling plantings. They are much more unsatisfactory and unpredictable than pecan seedling plantings IMHO. (IIRC, this is mainly due to the lack of other numerous varieties that can pollinate the pecan, so the seedling is more predictable and consistent.)

You may not have killed it. We had a redbud tree that my son "mowed" over three times. We put a wire mesh little fence around it and it grew up from the stump. Made the most attractive tree in our yard. Keep your fingers crossed, all may not be lost!

I'm thinkin', Hell Man put on some long pants with pockets...Tell her it'll grow back stronger and better than ever,
you know the ol' saw, 'what doesn't kill us makes us stronger' deal.

And another thing...oh, gotta go now, heard my wife pull in the driveway,

Later.

"Unbenounced to me I had mowed down her little apple tree that she raised from just a seed 3 years ago. "

So, this is one of those instances where the whole is far more valuable than the sum of its parts??..........:D

You need to explain the entire situation to her. Once she knows that you were looking over the fence at the neighbor that was sunbathing topless she will understand how you ran over the apple tree and forgive you.:D

Apple tree?

Smitty; Funny you should post this today. My neighbor wanted to cut down his Apple tree over hanging my shop, borrowed my rope to pull it away from fence & shop.* Offered my chain saw but he had one. Tree was about 20 - 25 ft. high & rained apples on the shop roof. It's down now & rope is back in my shop. But you can be assured the tree subject will come up again when she gets pissed at you in the future. like maybe 20 years from now.

This was TOTALLY HER fault, and you should immediatly, get off the couch, march into YOUR bedroom and tell her so!!!
If she'd really wanted that stupid tree that she claims to have raised, she should have placed some kind of site markers, or tape, or trimmed around it before you mowed the lawn!!!
Matter of fact, tell her you AINT mowin the lawn again this year,so she AINT GOTTA WORRY BOUT HER PRECIOUS TREES!!!

and I'll stand waaaay over here!!!
