Boy am I ever in trouble. I thought I was doing good today. I mowed the yard and did some cleaning in the garage and was relaxing later when in comes the wife red faced and smoke coming out of her ears and her hair on fire!

Unbenounced to me I had mowed down her little apple tree that she raised from just a seed 3 years ago.

I remember mowing around it the last time I mowed but today there was a shadow from the top of the fence line where this little twig was planted and I just didn't see it and mowed right over it. I tried to defend myself explaining it to her but that just made it worse. I shouldn't have said anything. Maybe I should have just handed her a gun and let her put me out of my misery!

Come to think of it she was carrying one in her pocket at the time and I'm probably lucky she didn't think of it.

Right now I'm getting the old silent treatment after the initial explosion. Any ideas on how to slink out of this one without losing any vital organs? I might have to sleep with one eye open tonight so she doesn't cut something of mine off to by "mistake."

Start by groveling. I would think a new apple tree would be in order. (Possibly with a diamond attached to it ;) ).

In this order:

1. Darling, I am so sorry, I was wrong.

2. Let me make this up to you, please tell me how I can.

3. Darling, I am so sorry, I was wrong.

4. Let me take you out to dinner.

5. Darling, I am so sorry, I was wrong.

6. It was a lovely little tree that I did not see.

7. Darling, I am so sorry, I was wrong.

8. I will be much more careful next time.

9. Darling, I am so sorry, I was wrong.

Repeat as necessary.

Been there, done that, have the scars.

Granted I am now divorced due to my Ex being angry at me all the time..
BUT as near as I can tell.
Agree wit her about anything she has to say about your Knuckleheaded moment,,,,
About all you can do.
Ride the storm out....
If you want it worse yet, Mention something she did wrong by mistake.
Otherwise, Just agree with your head hanging low and get her some flowers.
Peter
I feel your pain,

WHAT EVER YOU DO DO NOT BUY A TRUCK nomatter how cheap it is, she will eat you alive and your remains will be made unburyable

I have been there and done that, almost weekly if not daily,, dont know why she has put up with me for 44 years,.....come to think of it not sure how it lasted that long

After 15+ years of marriage, I would handle it in this order:

1) Go buy a new truck or sports car.
2) Drive said new auto/truck to your nearest firearms dealer
3)Buy a new or pre-owned SW.
4) Have lunch/dinner at Hooters.
5) Make her sleep on the couch.

These behavior modifications techniques are proven reliable and effective.

ummmm where did you find this wife and where can I get one? lol

Go to the grocery store and buy her a nice bag of apples. :D

She'll either laugh or throw them at you.

Hi:
In the past I have "Committed" the same "Crime". Mine was a runt oak tree.
HOWEVER the "Runt" came back and grew into a "Giant". I think that sometimes this treatment shocks the plant/tree into growing.
All might not be lost!
Jimmy

Tell her once that you are sorry that you ran it down.
Tell her you will get her a tree closer to fruit bearing age.
Tell her it isnt a big deal.
Tell her that a damn common plant isnt anything to get THAT worked up over.
An honest mistake is an honest mistake.
Personally... I wouldnt be with a person who gets pissed at me over something like that and/or will hold it against me.
People screw up... everyone does.
If it was THAt important to her... it should have been bordered with something to protect it.

No groveling, no jewelry, no repeated appologies.
Man up.

but at this very moment she still can't stand your ass so suck up as much as possible and plant her a new apple tree in the same spot without her knowledge so the next time she looks at that spot expectiong to find a reason to mentally chew you out she sees the tree you planted and thinks you are thoughtful

Whoa, posts like this have my life flashing before me in seconds. This is where you find out just how limited the English language is. When you replace the tree spend the extra bucks to buy a bigger one that will stop the mower.

Mowing the lawn at my place comes under woman's work. This also avoids the kind of trouble you are now going through. Best thing to do is get her a new spark plug for her mower so it will start easily!

I would tell her it has been such a traumatic experience that I will never be able to mow the lawn again. Then hand her the keys to the mower.:D

Sounds like the most reasonable plan so far, and how I would handle matters. I actually divorced my old lady and she still refuses to leave ( long story there )??? I'm either doing things right or doing them wrong ........... still not sure which.
