Inherited 400 guns.

Old story...
I showed my wife the list of all my guns, which includes make, model, serial number and value. I told her to sell them through a major auction house if anything happens to me.

She looked me right in the eyes and said, "I would never sell your treasures... I'd use them to get another guy".:eek:
Then she laughed like an idiot!

lol! that's funny, gotta love a woman with a sense of humor! ;)

^ What makes you think she was kidding? A few guns get her a man to buy her diamond ring, then a house, then a sports car.

That's my problem, and I have begun to sell off some so my wife won't have to deal with it. There are a few designated in my will to go to a few people, but the bulk will be sold. One less headache for my heirs.

have some firearms and no one that I know in the family shows no interest in them. However one of my SIL"s I asked if he wanted any when I'm gone said yes. Which totally suprised me. So when I do my will will include him and what he's to get. One handgun and ammo, one rifle and ammo and one shotgun and ammo. My other SIL is a corrections officer and asked my daughter to tell him give me a call. 8 months later no call. Anyplace I can buy a bag of coal in Louisiana??. Frank

In this collector era, I keep looking for a widow with this problem.

A few years back I stopped in to an LGS, an SUV was backed up to the door and the cabin was full of storage boxes, each box had 20 to 30 BNIB hand guns. 100's... Husband was sick and she was selling them off to help.

Good for you getting a chance a what might be some really good stuff.

A few years ago I inherited about a dozen or so guns from a friend. I was surprised (actually shocked) when I found out they were to be mine.

It's never crossed my mind once to sell any of them; even though many are higher end guns. Seems it'd be disrespectful but .... to each their own. After all, they ARE just "things".

About 10 years ago my son had a friend whose father committed suicide. He had something close to 170 guns, mainly, but not all, long guns. I gave the son a rough and dirty value for each so he could try to sell them. He had some nice ones, but nothing I was especially interested in, mostly modern rifles and shotguns. I think he turned them over to a gun shop for consignment sale, no idea how it turned out.

Several years ago we had a local tactical kinda gun shop. I'd stop in once in a while looking for anything good. One day the owner sees me and says hey I have something for you! He comes out with a nearly perfect 17-3. I look it over and ask how much, He says (forget now)but it was $250 or $350. I don't ask questions and pay for it.

As we are doing the paperwork the LGS guy says they gun came from Califonia it was willed to a younger grandson nearby. The estate shipped the gun into the LGS. The kid came in took a casual glance at it, and told the shop to sell it ASAP and get the money.

I thought it kinda odd to deal with the estate, shipping, etc to just dump it. Probably meant something to Grandpa but nothing to the kid.

Just think of accounting for them all and keeping them secure.
