Apex sear installation complete. Excellent improvement for $50.

Dropped the trigger pull from 6-7 pounds to around 4-4.5 approximately. Over travel and reset improved as well. I have 2 Shields so that was nice to be able to compare them afterwards. Best way I can describe it is now I dont have to squeeze the trigger. I can just press it straight back.

Installation went well as I didn't lose any tiny springs or pins.

When I see any of you knuckleheads at the range youre welcome to try it out.

See how this improves my speed and IDPA scores.

Im sure the full upgrade kit from Apex results in an incredible trigger as id now consider my Shield with the sear upgrade to have improved from good to excellent trigger (for a plastic/striker gun).

I did the same, and achieved exactly the same results. Great mod to a fine firearm.

Is this an otherwise untouched firearm? No polishing or anything of that sort?

You are the first person I've heard of using a Shield for IDPA.

Friend of mine does and I may but I have been bitten by the revolver bug. I bought a gp100 a couple of weeks ago and just installed Wolff springs tonight so the little shield may not see any action. :D

Our gun club has weekly practice shoots for IDPA matches. A couple times a year the theme is EDC firearms. My how the scores drop LOL.

I've been running the hard sear for 6 months now and greatly appreciate what it does for my Shield 9mm trigger pull. Good luck!

I did nothing to my gun but replace the factory sear with apex. No springs involved. Huge improvement.

Weeks later, I spent five minutes and smoothed the machine marks on the trigger bar (leaving the part on the gun) which smoothed the feel of the trigger pull a lot.

Where do you get the punches from to do this? Guy at the LGS wants $75 just to do it and I refuse to pay that.

You can get punches from a local hardware store or Home Depot/Lowes for a few bucks each. I've been using a 3/32" punch for a Gl-something-or-other breakdown tool for years which I purchased at the local Ace or True Value Hardware.
