Instant coffee?

I finished off a nice batch of frozen Margaritas at midnight and shot my 550 Remington up in the air to celebrate the new year after picking out 8 pounds of fresh pecans off my own tree that made 77 pounds in November and I am drinking Folgers Classic Decaf at the moment while letting the dogs out to do their thing in 14 degree weather
while I peck on this stupid computer waiting on them to get through at 6 in the morning. The moon is bright and I took a few photos. So for the new year is good.:D

Haven't tried it in last 30 years or so. But I would keep it for my bug put bag that and moon pie don't forget yoo hoo too lol

Forty + years ago in Mexico, a large restaurant in Vera Cruz had waiters carrying steaming pitchers of hot raw milk. On the tables sat the jars of instant Nescafé. The trendy, successful “beautiful people” drank that, and since my job was to fit in, I dumped the instant in the thick glass, tapped it (ding ding) and the waiter poured the steaming milk.

That was the least of those folks problems.

I haven’t tried it since.

My method now: grind the beans, Melitta one cup at a time. The filter and grounds go in the compost.

I CAN'T drink Instant Coffee - period! I'll drink the Keurig style stuff if I am desperate and at a place where that's the only Coffee available, but I prefer fresh Percolated Coffee either in an old fashioned electric perk or a stove top perk. That's the way I make it in my home.

Dunno...I've had a lot of bad coffee...including instant. I've also been deployed places where any coffee...good or bad...was greatly appreciated.

The Taster's Choice coffee tubes are tolerable if the electricity is off.

Instant coffee really has come a long way, thank heaven, but it's a lasrt resort, an emergency item.

Confused, why do you need electricity to make coffee, boil water, grind beans, pour water thru beans (in filter), coffee.

Best I have had lately: a neighbor buys green (Kona) coffee beans online, he roasts them in an old hot-air popcorn popper. Doesn't grind it until the water is put on for that caraffe.

Worst I can recall: Instant from MRE packet.

Life is much to short for instant coffee. I have a variety of coffer makers and espresso makers. I even have a pot and propane burner that has its own small box. Make good coffee.

I haven't had instant coffee for years, but on a recent trip to the Himalayas and Everest Base Camp, it's all they had at the tea houses where we stayed. Tasted pretty good.

We’re staying at my MIL’s house over the holidays, and she asked if I wanted a cup of coffee. Little did I know that the coffee was instant. And to boot the jar looked to be 30 years old. Does anybody really like this stuff? Hoo boy that stuff is rough! I’ve drank a lot of bad coffee but the only things it has in common with coffee was it was brown and liquid.
When I visit my mother in Illinois, it's all she has. I tolerate it.

When I worked [as a contractor] at the Cleveland Clinic installing PCs, we had no fixed location and usually had no amenities. I brought instant coffee or tea bags, since that was the only way you were going to get something to keep you awake during the illegal unpaid overtime at 2:00am.

At home, I NEVER drink instant. I buy the bags of better quality ground coffee from Giant Eagle and [rarely] Whole Foods. I can't stand Folgers and the like.

I somehow survived almost 30 years of convenience store and diner coffee while mostly working rotating shifts. Had everything from absolutely awful to pretty darn good. For much of that time, it wasn't about whether it was GOOD or not, it was about what it could DO - keep you somewhat alert and to keep going.

Still recall our practice when I was a college kid and would 'cram' for exams with a group of buddies through the night - Step one was load and plug in the percolator pot, fairly strong. Once done, pass out cups and serve. In center of table was a large jar of instant coffee. Each cup got a big rounded tablespoon of it into the coffee.
That was our 'study aid'!

I never drank coffee that much till I got the corporate engineering job with free coffee all day long. We also had a full cafeteria too. I was a blue collar grunt in the white collar world. I never felt like I fit in, but the food was great. I never ate breakfast till this job. Hot fresh cooked breakfast. I had blueberry pancakes everyday. The other half lives really good in the corporate world. Show up for breakfast, take a 1 1/2 hr lunch. The place was a country club.

Growing up my grandmother drank nothing but instant coffee, no idea what brand it was. Dad and granddad had an old black pot they would throw in a handful of grounds, probably Folgers and a little water. Dad always said, "most folks use too much water". It was stout. Today I kind of like Community Coffee, pecan praline. May have to try a cup of instant just for memories. Just a cup mind you.

My late MIL liked these coffee bags. We kept them in our RV, cause she was the only one that went with us that drank coffee. My Mom and Dad also use them when they only need a single cup.

Maxwell House also makes single serving coffee bags. Actually they're not bad at all...why would anyone drink instant when you could have a cup of brewed coffee in about the same amount of time?

Back when I was a kid we used an instant coffee called Kava that I liked. I don't think it's still around, but I really enjoyed it back then. Now and then we had Taster's Choice as well. It was okay but not as good as Kava at least to me. It probably depends on what you're used to drinking.

I don't really drink coffee these days except on rare occasions. The wife has a Keurig. She drinks the store brand (Signature Select) dark roast from Albertsons/Safeway/United/Tom Thumb/Randalls/Jewel/Star Market/Market Street and all the other names Albertsons operates under. I think they own about 15-20 different names these days. It's pretty decent coffee.

I usually grind my coffee fresh and use the Keuirg filter you fill yourself and keep another for a second cup... like the way U can make one cupat atime and still be fresh

I use a cuisinard coffee maker and grind the beans with an electric spice grinder.

Generally I use Starbucks Yukon blend brewed strong.

Start the day with a pot each morning.

No instant stuff except espresso once in a while when I only want a cup.

My sister passed away a few years ago,, but, before that,, EVERYONE LOVED her coffee.

She would never tell anyone why her drip coffee was liked by everyone,,

Then,, one day, I happened to see her make a pot of coffee.

She added the regular coffee to the filter, then,,,
she put one tablespoon of instant coffee on top of the grounds.

That was her trick,, everyone raved about her coffee,,,,

So, maybe it isn't either/or when it comes to regular/instant coffee,,,
maybe the answer is,,,, BOTH!! :D

Curiosity killed the Cat! I had to try this. Went out and bought some instant today. Tried it on top of my regular coffee in the coffee maker. It actually worked! I would say it gave it a smoother taste and all around better cup of coffee. Thanks for the tip!
