Interesting holdup today

Guy got what he deserved but I can’t consider anyone’s premature death to be a happy ending. Hapoy no one else was hurt, yes.

I take a more statistical view. On a planet of limited size, burgeoning population, and a seemingly growing proportion of that number prepared to commit violence, every one of this type that goes down means I have less chance of meeting one, and they don't get to breed more with the same mindset.

Perps look for "cash businesses." Lots of places have little cash now. Tellers at my bank have no drawers. If you want cash the teller does the "Beep-boop" on a keyboard and the machine spews exactly what you asked for. Stick them up and you have a "pillbox" perimeter along with zero cash access. Gun shows probably have the most "loose cash" but good luck hitting that. Joe

Anyone who keeps a lot of cash around is heightening their risk of burglary or robbery. There is a good deal of robbery of street-level drug dealers (cash business), especially those not affiliated with a gang. It doesn't get reported.

The beauty of the situation is the robber got a free short cut to the hospital. One thing for sure he didn't make the cut as a robber.

He's lucky there was not a manicurist in the shop or she might have nailed him too.

Gun violence can occur anytime, anywhere...Note recent accounts in WalMart's, McDonalds, Electric Vehicle Charging stations, gas stations and stand alone drive up teller machines......Always be alert to the possibility no matter where you are and just to be safe consider everyone around you to also be carrying.
Had not thought about the vulnerability of a driver of an EV at a charging station. Especially for carjacking or assault. Sitting in boredom in his/her car, playing on an iPhone, listening to the radio, reading a book, etc, and not paying much attention to the surroundings.

Unfortunately, places like nail salons, beauty, parlors, and barbershops are ripe for this sort of criminality. My wife will regularly visit a local nail salon, which is usually pretty packed with women and some men getting manicures, pedicures, and other treatments. Unfortunately, a few things are apparent: the first one is everyone is pretty much in Condition White (meaning totally relaxed like when you’re on your Lazy Boy lounger.) Secondly, there’s usually a lot of cash on hand in pocketbooks and the register. And, most of the patrons and employees are not the threatening sort of people.
Whenever I go with my wife or just drop her off, it’s always in the back of my head that this place may be targeted for those reasons…

I go to a nail salon about every six weeks with my wife. Its just too hard bending over to cut my own nails so I get a basic pedicure. I am always armed and always keep a general watch on the front entrance. Fortunately never have had a problem.
