Took a walk along the lake road, about a mile in each direction.

A Sheriff coming by on the other side of the road stopped and lowered his window. (About a 24' distance) Asked me how I was doing and said I was the first moving thing (Vehicle or people) he has seen in about a 25 mile drive. Said it was kind of strange even for our rural area.

I agreed with that assessment we wished each other a good day and we continued on our lonely journeys.

Slower than normal traffic around here, but the wildlife refuge which is great for hiking and trails has more people wandering around in it than I've seen in a long time.

Combination of gyms being closed and the fitness folk out looking for exercise, and those who are out of work or school looking to get out of the house.

As a birdwatcher, I can't count the number of times I have been pulled off the road glassing or getting a spotting scope on some interesting bird and a police officer has stopped to offer assistance or to see what was so interesting. I always carried flyers for our Audubon Chapter and have never failed to make a friend. In fact, one giant sherriff deputy that makes Dave Keith look friendly stopped once, and growled "lock up your car, grab that scope and come with me."

He took me in his 4 x 4 up a mountain road to a ridge with a nesting pair bald eagles! One of the first confirmed nestlings in Arkansas when they were getting back well established in the lower 48 from all the DDT problems.

He said, "I knew your car would never make it."

The closed the Parks and Beaches around here. No fresh air for us. We can go to WalMart though!

Typical of the flawed logic I see going on. I saw where a church in Louisiana was threatened by local LEOs if they continue to congregate. I'm not saying that was a good idea to continue to gather during this time but, like you, I've certainly noticed there's no limit to people congregating in the grocery stores!

Typical of the flawed logic ....
There are some recent facts to support that reasoning.

Feb. 18:
Patient 31, a 61-year-old woman, became the first congregant at Shincheonji Church of Jesus in Daegu to test positive. It was unclear where she contracted the virus.

Feb. 20:
Within two days after Patient 31 tested positive, 15 more people connected to the Shincheonji church were confirmed to have the virus, as well. A month later, thousands of people with connections to the church would test positive for the virus.

While the virus ravaged the church, more than 100 new cases had been confirmed in surrounding Daegu, as well. The disease appeared in hospitals, housing for the elderly and other churches. Most of these additional clusters were near the Shincheonji church.

March 25:
A little over one month later, the cluster at the Shincheonji church accounted for 5,080 confirmed cases of covid-19, more than half of South Korea's total.

An updated chart of S. Korea's known covid-19 cases.

So...... the same thing can happen with the droves of people congregating in the grocery stores, etc. My point was the inconsistency of how the rules are being applied.

I guess those applying the rules think you can be with God at home, but most people need to shop to eat.

So the first day was nice not having calls on top of calls, like a breather. Then this past week its been so sloooowww the days have been dragging big time. I am just worried after this blows over everybody is going to call at once to report things that happened weeks ago.

After I retired from a large LE agency I served another ten years in a small municipal Police Dept. working straight nights (instead of the rotating shifts I endured for the previous 28 years). There were a lot of times that I initiated a conversation with a citizen with no ulterior motive. It's funny how many times people will tell you about a legitimate concern that they think LE is too busy to deal with.

A lot less traffic on the roads here as well
I have to say a lot of the people out driving are doing so in a dream state
On my way to work wednesday , i had 3 different drivers cut me off , pulling out in front of me from side streets etc
Probably didnt even know i was there , then to make matters worse they crawl along at 5k under the speed limit , i assume because they have no pressing engagements

Other than the summer time weekends traffic moves quite well up here. Ground rules are at least 10 over the limit as LEOs do not spend much time here at the edge of the county.:D

The flatlanders come up many towing a large boat or camping trailer with a under powered vechicle on our hilly roads now that can certainly slow things down.

Let me tell you something about this "preacher" and what I think of him, seeing that I live in Louisiana, which is one of the states with the fastest rates of growth of covid19 affected people. This turkey is located somewhere around Baton Rouge, LA and is one of the areas (along with the N.O area) that has the most patients. And this turkey is sending out buses to pick up his "flock" so that there is zero social distancing from the ride, the services and the ride back home. And they had around 1100 of these idiots that went to his services. So what you have is a congregation of 1100+ brain dead people in 1 spot for a few hours in one of the hotter areas of the state for this virus. I think that (explicative deleted) preacher should be locked up in irons or better yet, make him help out in the hospitals that have patients on ventilators from this covid19 and watch them die. Maybe that idiot would then realize what his congregation of 1100 folks might have done to spread this virus and potentially put a lot more people at risk.

If he were a real man of God instead of a money grubber, he would have spread the word to his flock to stay home and do a thorough Bible Study on Sunday. That is what my wife and I did for Sunday!

I just picked up on your forum name and the mention of "5k" under. Do you live in Kamloops?
