Las Vegas Churches accept gambling chips

THIS MAY COME AS A SURPRISE TO THOSE OF YOU NOT LIVING IN
LAS VEGAS , BUT THERE ARE MORE CATHOLIC CHURCHES THAN CASINOS.

NOT SURPRISINGLY, SOME WORSHIPERS AT SUNDAY SERVICEs
WILL GIVE CASINO CHIPS RATHER THAN CASH WHEN THE BASKET IS PASSED.

SINCE THEY GET CHIPS FROM MANY DIFFERENT CASINOS, THE CHURCHES HAVE DEVISED A METHOD TO COLLECT THE OFFERINGS..

THE CHURCHES SEND ALL THEIR COLLECTED CHIPS TO A NEARBY FRANCISCAN MONASTERY FOR SORTING AND THEN THE CHIPS ARE TAKEN TO THE CASINOS OF ORIGIN AND CASHED IN.

THIS IS DONE BY THE CHIP MONKS.

I love vegas but just drive through and dont stop. I was a big gambler for 40 years, and really worked to just go on gambling trips. My ex was even worse than me, and so was a GF in between. When we first moved here to cedar city, we are only 90 miles or a hour and a half from mesquite. We were hitting it about once a week. I finaly wised up and quit or we would be wearing a barrel. I had two vices. Dipping copenhagen and gambling. Quiting the cope was even harder! Even that was a $5 a day habit. I am not saying I wont gambel ever again, but try to keep it down to $200s or so about twice a year when I cross the state.

The last time I took my sweet bride gambling in S. Tahoe (nearly 40 years ago) I gave her a $20 bill to go explore the premises. She couldn't get into any of the games and brought back $19 within a few minutes saying "I just can't do this sort of thing". It was a good omen for the decades to follow.

I had 10 acres near lake davis. That is by portola and only 50 miles out of reno. I was thinking of retireing there. My new bride knew I was a gambler and said it was too close to reno and gambling. I said okay, lets go up to susanville about 70 more miles north, and look around.
We got up there, got ahold of a realitor and she said I have just the thing! Follow me. When she stopped I started laughing. The house was square across the road from a indian casino!

There is a trick to living in Las Vegas. Just remember that if you ever walk into a casino and say to yourself "I really need to win today" you have a problem.

An HR type for a previous employer once asked me "Do you gamble". "No", I replied, "I play nickels". Unfortunately, they were not from Vegas and I had to explain the gag.

I'm from Vegas and was reading this thing seriously. When it first mentioned the presence of a monastery I said wait a minute, there aren't any monasteries in Vegas. Then I read the last two lines........... ah, never mind. :-) .............. Big Cholla
