Internal Lock Flag and spring

Either way with my recent experiences I will keep what I have but I will never buy a Smith product ever again.

I have the solution !!

S&W should start selling all models of their revolvers both ways - some of each model line with the lock and some of each model line without the lock. Then the customer could choose whichever model they wanted !!!

Capitalism at work !

(sarcasm intended) :)

Thanks for posting. Sold out now.

I really wish this wasn't an issue. I can't see why S&W can't add some kind of disclaimer when selling this part. I'm not a lawyer, but I would like to think they could cover themselves and still sell the part. I can't see how one part is more of a liability than another - it's a gun for cryin-out-loud. Yes, I get that it's a locking device - but if the consumer messes with it, any liability should be on them.

The fact that so many people are lining up for a filler plug for these things would indicate that lock removal isn't that uncommon either.

Smith and Wesson is not worried about who is liable on a customer modified gun. They will be named in a suit either way. Probably the bozo that ground his nub would sue them too for making it with removable screws in the side plate and it allowed him to access the flag:D. So they spend 10 million or so setteling and defending and we all pay the price:mad:. Not refering to any particular Bozo, Just a generic statement:).

Thanks !!

I ordered one - because it would only let me order 1. I am mystified that it says it fits j/k/n frames. S&W lists separate j frame and k/l/n frame part numbers. I'll let you know how it works out when I get it.

What are you putting it in?

They do this with the M&P line of semi-auto pistols. And, guess which sells?

I suggested this to the President of S&W himself at the SHOT Show one year, and he looked at me like I was from Mars.

I honestly do not know what drives these people, but surely to goodness, the Board of Directors can find a "gun person" who is also qualified with appropriate business/finance credentials. I mean they have had people up there running the place that have never held a firearm, or that used to run plants making washing machines or lawn mowers or something like that.

I cannot think of any reason why making semi-autos without key locks is acceptable, but making revolvers without them (except for the DAO revolvers like the Centennials) is not acceptable.

I don't understand why the Centennials are exempt, since gun storage doesn't have anything to do with single action shooting.
But, I am glad that my two Centennials are lockless. They are my carry guns. A 442 and a 640 Pro.

Best,
Rick

It is because the flag doesn't pop out, it is completely enclosed. There is no way to tell if the gun is locked or unlocked, without pulling the trigger. The lock was a bad idea, the lock on a centennial, is a liability in my opinion.

Well, here is how it turned out. Ordered the flag from gunparts/Numrich. Got the email saying it was ordered and would be shipped. Two days later got another email saying it was out of stock and couldn't be backordered. Went on line and looked at the order status - it had a note saying "nothing to ship".

Bottom line: no flag. And S&W are still stupid "Mommy State" dumb a_sses.

Thanks for the follow up.

Too bad. My guess is these things will hard to get a hold of in the future.
