INTERNET SNUBBY MATCH

For poops and giggles I tried a couple efforts today with my Colt Cobra,
image.jpg

best I was able to do was 3.75".

Tried 25yrds SA two handed, did okay. Ammo was 110gr jhps which hit about 4" low and rightish at that distance. I held just over the bull.

I stumbled upon this thread Tuesday. I have never looked in this forum, as I do not shoot a revolver competitively. But......I do have a snubby, a 640 Centennial and thought I would give this a try, though I am at a disadvantage shooting DA only. I won't shoot every week, but can manage once a month. Here is my entry.

The circled hits were shot weak handed. Spread is 5 3/4". Kinda surprised all 10 shots hit paper.

Load is a 125 gr. Win. HP over a dose of H-110.

Thank you. I think this was the 1st time I shot the 640 weak hand only. If not it has been a long time since I have. I am pretty happy with that target.

Nice shooting. I'm learning double action shooting with my 638, unsupported with either hand.

How far away was your target?

12 yds. Get your self some snap caps to practice your dry fire. It helped me immensely. I got to the point that I can lay a dime flat on the front site and pull the trigger without the dime falling off. That drill took a long time before I could do it.

Greetings,

Here is my (mostly) feeble attempt. I did mediocre strong (right) handed - and horrible weak handed. I'm now kind of glad I used cheap ammo VS the $1.00 a round stuff, oh well.

M36 - no dash.
Federal AE 158 gr LRN
12 yards - SA
9-3/8" group

At leas I got in another range trip - and I didn't hurt myself nor anyone else - so it qualifies as a good day! :D

Greetings,

Here's my Ruger speed six.
It's a 9mm with a 2-3/4" bbl
ammo WW 124 gr FMJ
12 yards, SA only
5 right & 5 left handed
group: 8-15/16"

one bad shot high & left hurt, but oh well
all in all it did OK :D

I tried again today using my Seattle police dept marked 10-5, had a few 4+ inch tries before getting just under 3" with Rem +p 125gr sjhp ammo.

I used a technique advocated by Ayoob for one handed shooting which involves making a clenched fist with the non shooting hand to help steady my aim through sympathetic muscle response. Pretty clever stuff, it works.

Well, here's my entry: 5.6 inches. It was the first target of about six I started (didn't finish them all due to humongous fliers. I shot weak hand first). I sure have a tendency to jerk the trigger , particularly with weak hand. A little dry fire practice helped, but I have to practise a lot more.

I don't have a 3 inch snubby, and used my 2 inch M&P wearing a set of Sile grips. They dont feel too bad left hand and are a lot steadier right hand. I'd not like to pocket the pistol wearing them, though.

Winner for April!!

The winner for April is Otreb with a group of 2 11/16. That's VERY good shooting. Several people shot very respectable groups. I didn't; I haven't shot enough to keep up the skills I had a long time ago. I have a tremendous jerk, and the harder I try the harder I jerk. I think lots of dry fire will help get rid of it.

Next month's match will be posted soon. Look for some startling new developments.
