Does anyone know off-hand when the magna grip was introduced? I recall reading somewhere that they coincided with the introduction of the Registered Magnum, but you read (and hear) lots of things that ain't necessarily so.

1935 or so is about right. There is a nice discussion on grips (stocks?) in the SCSW#3 that outlines when the various types of stocks were produced, with pictures. Lots of good information.

I believe my first RM that letters with them is October 1935. So let's say sometime in the Fall?

Hope it helps.

September 5, 1935...Harold Wesson directed that the ".357" Magnum should be fitted with Magna stocks

February 5, 1936...44, 45, and 38/44 models included

April 1, 1936...All K-frame revolvers included

Bill

Say, if all K frames were included from April Fools Day 1936, how come 1st model Masterpieces often came with service grips when released in 1940? (Come to think of it, did prewar 22 Outdoorsmen ever ship with magnas? I recall only service stocks.)

Hmm. Bill, now you wouldn't be playing a retroactive April Fool's joke on us now, would ya?!
