Introduction

Thanks for all the welcomes. I have been scouring the pic threads and others and now have a dilemma along with some questions; The dilemma is, All of you already have a decked out mp15-22 and I DONT, you guys suck! LOL

Naw, seriously though my dilemma is that I dont know if I should get a 4-32 scope and mount a red dot on top of the scope for CQB (or Close Quarter Combat for those that didnt know) or just a red dot with a 3X magnifier. I want to be able to put some lead down range at 100 yards but at the same time feel comfortable at 12-50 yards with the red dot. I need HELP, I am shopping as IF I already have the weapon, lmao

The main question is the 15-22 I am looking at is the mp 15-22 A1 style with the fixed rear sight and front A2 post sight, would I have to worry about the blue spring problem or any other things I need to look for or avoid?

My personal opinion is that you dont need a magnified scope or a magnifier in order to get good hits at those distances. A non-magnified red dot should be sufficient.

Look at the PA micro dots, its a quality optic, 2 MOA dot, which is small enough to allow you to see targets out to 200 yards. I have no problem shooting a steel plate at 200 yards and getting hits repeatedly without magnification.

Bullitt,
thanks for your response. I am also looking for just a little advantage when I aim for the 300 yard mark. I am also looking at the PA icro dots as you suggested

You aren't going to hit anything at 300 yards with a .22. Max effective range is around 150 yards for most loads.

What's your MOS?

Yeah but the max effective range for the .50 cal is 1.1mile yet many soldiers have surpassed that mark and set records. I believe (last time I looked) the current record is held by a canadian soldier at 1.54 mile during "Enduring Freedom."

I was a 91W (combat medic) but switched to 19D half way through AIT. What you in Gordon for?
