Iowa legislature passes SHALL ISSUE CCW law

The Iowa senate passed SHALL ISSUE CCW bill 44 to and house passed bill 81 to 16. A long wait but worth it !!!!

The governor indicated in the past he would sign. From the looks of the vote totals I hope he sees it would be in his interest to sign the bill.

Next on my list of things I want is a favorable outcome of McDonald vs Chicago, then I'd like to see Pelosi, Reid, Schumer, Lautenberg, Feinstein, Waxman and a number of others lose in the Nov elections. Good riddance to excrement. Don

This is from article in Des Moines Register.
One of the key pieces of debate today centered around the issue of reciprocity. Iowa’s public safety commissioner would have compared laws in other states with Iowa’s before that state’s gun permits would be recognized in Iowa. The commissioner would have been in charge of obtaining agreements with each state that meet or exceed Iowa’s concealed weapons laws.

If I remember correctly Chet (the Gov) got an "A" rating from the NRA, even though he's a democrat. So I'll bet he signs it. He knows he can't afford to tick anybody else off here in Iowa. However he's not gonna be re-elected anyway, his approval rating is next to nothing now. I live in a county that issues more permits than any other in the state, so it won't affect me right now, but it's great to know some of the anti gun sheriffs won't be able to deprive the people in their counties from protecting themselves.

Hope Iowa does it right so my Utah and FL multi-state permits will be good there. I'm in IL with ZERO hope of ever getting any such law here but, I live less than 20 miles from Iowa.

MAYBE things will get better after Rotten Richard Daley gets to eat the text of McDonald vs Chicago when it gets shoved down his throat. Don

We've had concealed carry all my life. But only if your county Sheriff thinks you're worthy. Now they will have to issue the permit unless there is a legal reason not to.
