I'm now an "anti-hoarder." I've sold off most of my stuff and keep my material possessions to a bare minimum. Even guns and ammo...which I don't like to keep on hand more than I can carry or transport in the trunk of my car. Life, for me at least, is much less stressful if I don't have a zillion things to curate and worry about. JMHO at this point in my life.

When you have zero of something you use or want, say 22 ammo. The guy with 100 rounds is "Stingy" and the guy with 500 rounds is a "hoarder". When I had 45,000 rounds of 22 that I started buying in 1974, I considered myself "Wise" and those that never kept any ammo "in the closet", FOOLISH!
Mom and grandma, would talk about shortages in WWII. Things like sugar, fresh vegies, tobacco products, and gasoline. There were "Ration Stamps", but those stamps didn't put anything in the pantry! You had to use your head and plan ahead for parties or a wedding reception. And when you saved up an extra bag of sugar, you continued to buy a normal amount, so when a special occasion came up, you could make a cake with frosting or a bowl of punch.
I heard of two older gents, during the war, that liked to golf at a club 25 miles out of town. They bought a used car just to go golfing in, because it allowed an extra ration book. Later in the war, gas was more plentiful, and cars were even more scarce, they sold the car for a profit and kept on golfing with the proceeds. Were they hoarders, or were they wise?

I don't "hoard", but I do accumulate. I realize that in the near future, ammo in any configuration, will become so expensive, by design, that many folks won't be able to afford it. The past shortages weren't pretty, and I promised myself that I would never get caught in a situation like that again - and I won't. I also "hoard" knives and old chess sets - because I can.

IMHO It's only hoarding if you don't share pictures of your collections, especially those guitars!

THE OTHER SIDE OF THIS FOR MORE 'MODERN' TIMES. Everything is constantly changing as everyone wants to reinvent the wheel.
You find something you like, and or works for you, you can bet they will change it shortly. I could list several, but my latest venture was some pails in the 2 gallon size. Had to order a few the other day and sure enough they changed the configuration. Yeah they work as I needed but I had to change the way I used them so they would blend in with my existing uses. 
The list is endless. From dog dental chews to whatever. I guess it is called life.
So, you better stock up, and those that don't, well too bad for them.

Spent 25 years working for Caterpillar, started at 18. When I decided to leave after 25 years, I found myself with two Harleys, restored 70 nova, fairly new 2500 Chevy, new Camaro SS, 24ft tower boat and 16ft flats boat. Garage full of tools with no room left to work on anything.
And of coarse gun collection, fishing pole collection, and hundred of other collections I started.
Sold it all, moved into a townhouse. Limit myself to one car, one truck, and one boat. 10 fishing poles and 10 guns.
I still find myself shopping and comparing products , but have learned not to hit the but button.
Life is easier, I am happier, not being a slave to my possessions.

As my mother and father used to say about the hall closet that was completely full of toilet paper and light bulbs..... You won't understand because you did not live through The Great Depression, and hopefully you never will understand..... But we did, and there will be some things we will never run short on again.
So, is it hoarding or prevention? Guess it's all a matter of perspective.
