Being relatively new to the world of .32's, and having found an interesting one online, I read extensively in SCSW4 before deciding this is a .32 Hand Ejector 2nd Model 5th Change...I'm including some relevant pics from the ad...Does the S/N look odd to anyone else?...The size and evenness of the digits is not consistent to my eye, but may have been normal for the period...I'll ask Roy Jinks when it may have shipped...

Asking price is a grand; high I know but they're not making them anymore, and it seems like a righteous example to me unless there's a dissenting opinion...Thanks for the help......Ben

I'd say it's a .32 Hand Ejector Third Model from the serial#! from 1911 to 1942, but I'm no expert! A grand seems a little steep to me!

Truckman I don't know anything about them but after the experts weigh in if it's something you want and your in a position to do so buy it.Only you know what it's value is to you, because as I've learned the hardway when I see one I like and I walk away its gone when I ultimately return.Thats happened to me twice and I won't let it happen again.

The digits in the SN look correct, just not well aligned.

These were made in large numbers, more in nickel than blued, but the 6" barrel is less common. All told, however, I think $1K is a high asking price.

I don't know if it's worth a grand, but I do know you will have a hard time trying to find one in better condition for less than $1,000.

I've seen that gun before and could not "pull the trigger", but thought about it several times! :D

Wasn't it misidentified? Either way, my 32 longs are the most fun to shoot and it's a great target round.

I like N frames, specially ones chambered for 45 ACP. Having said that, a revolver I own that is an absolute blast to plink with is my 32 Hand Ejector!

I also think $1000 is high, nearly double but the times they are a changing!

If the finish was original, would the ejector rod knob be blued, or am I misremembering again?......Ben

The image in the OP is nickel. On a factory nickel revolver the extractor star is blue. The hammer and trigger are casehardened.

On a factory blued revolver, the bevel on the extractor knob is unfinished.

Did that help?

Kevin

It's a 3rd Model made between ~1920 (it has the logo on the left side frame) and 1923 (it does not yet have the MADE IN U.S.A. rollmark on right side frame. If it's been refinished, it was by the factory and the customer requested it not be stamped with a star on the butt. But I'd have to see if there's a factory date stamp on the left grip frame under the grip panel.

The numbers stamped on the butt look righteous. They weren't always perfectly stamped in those days like post war, and the font looks correct for that period.

I'm not sure about the ext knob being blue. But the extractor star would definitely be blue. Unfortunately we can't see that.

If that gun is completely righteous, with that scarce 6" barrel, and in that condition one can't really establish the value. It's literally whatever a seller will ask that a buyer will pay. I mean how often do we see them that old in that condition? I would ask for photos of the two things I mention above!

Let us know how the auction goes on-line.

Oh wait just a minute, I remember now (takes awhile sometimes at my age): the extractor knob should be color case hardened when they were a separate piece that unscrewed. But by the time of this gun, the knob was integral with the rod and therefore should be as it is, nickeled.

Thanks Kevin and Jim...Roy verified it shipped February 1921...I will ask the seller about any date stamps on the left bottom of the grip frame and about the finish on the extractor star...It's good to have knowledgeable friends...:o...Ben

After careful consideration, I think I'll do the responsible thing (there's a surprise) and hold off the purchase until my credit card recovers from last month's wounds from buying five guns at once...If it's still there next month, and after I get my property taxes paid, then it was meant to be...Otherwise there'll be other opportunities another time I'm sure...:o...Ben
