IS RUGER QUALITY SUBSTANDARD?

I have yet to have a single firearm I have purchased, with one notable exception, have a reliability issue that wasn't directly caused by something I did. Not saying it doesn't happen, such as the poor fellow with his 8 defective rugers, but as a whole I'm still not convinced that between the major manufacturers there is a *statistically* significant difference in "quality" when it comes to reliability. That being said, the same rules always apply, make sure any gun works before relying on it and I have my band preferences. Also, you shouldn't worry about rust resistance IMO if you properly maintain and clean it. As I sit here typing this I have literally a 100 year old WWI luger on the desk with most of its original bluing.

Also, you shouldn't get upset that someone may accuse you of being a troll when you come on the S&W forum and open up a thread about Ruger quality with no evidence, or even a personal anecdote. It's like going to a tech forum and starting the AMD vs. Intel debate.

I think it's pretty typical for people to distrust newer offerings from Ruger since historically they have been conservative in offering genuinely new designs.
The Mk series .22 pistols are nearly bombproof and hold up to enormous round counts based on what I'm seeing at the local bullseye range, great stock guns as shooters and like the 1911, a platform for customized target competition pistols. The Single Six and DA '6' series revolvers have demonstrated very good longevity also. Many would argue the Sp101 and GP100 revolvers are among the very strongest revolvers of their type, just as the Backhawk and Redhawk guns are.....so, I'm definitely not feeling much of an association with poor quality or durability in these cases.
The P90 and other P series service pistols never had much respect for their dimensions or grace, but overwhelmingly they are known for being solid shooters.
I own 7 Ruger guns, including the LCR revolver....zero complaints.

I've owned 3 Ruger semi autos and 1 revolver (LCR). All 3 semi autos had issues from the 1st round to the last. The P95 was and is an enigma. Accuracy (if you can call it that) was erratic at best because there was no accuracy. It was all over the place. The SR1911 had the front sight on backwards out of the box (no joke!) and wouldn't feed reliably at all. The LC9 wouldn't even feed FMJs. I've had excellent luck with S&W so I stick with them. I hear nothing but good things about their revolvers and I plan on picking up 1 or 2 of em 1o these days.

I've held the LC9S and really like it too. I had a LCR in 38 and my wife has one in 22. Good guns. I have a Match Champion that I love.

Wouldn't hesitate to buy the LC9S. Get it. No problem with Ruger at all.

My 9mm Shield jammed the first time I used it and 4 times today during a 200 round session. The spent round would not eject. Had to lock the slide, drop the mag, clear the jam, insert the mag, rack the slide and hope it would work (I, if needed, I would still be alive). I have written the company about this NEW gun.
