I am interested in getting the M&P Pro 9, but want to know if the price difference is worth it? What do you get for the price difference beside night sights and trigger change?

I opted for the 4.25" Pro with night sites over the 5" with fiber optic figuring it had a bit more practical use in all situation. It was my first M&P so I had little to compare it against other than my Glocks, but I found enough positives in that single M&P to have gotten rid of all my Glocks but my old faithful G21. Naturally I wasn't content with just one M&P so I picked up a used M&P45 and actually liked that gun better than any other I've owned to date. I think the trigger differences between the Pro and the M&P45 and M&P9c that I own are minor; truth be told I actually prefer the M&P45's trigger over that of my M&P9 Pro but not by much. The big bonus is the night sites which are great. I shoot IDPA and when I use my M&P9 you cannot tell they are anything other than a standard 3-dot site but they light up like a Christmas tree in the dark. '

In the end, I'd say you are paying more for the night sites than the trigger upgrade and I actually like the stock triggers on the M&Ps so if you want a set of night sites it is worth going for the Pro but if the sites are 2nd on your list and you wanted and you were hoping for a different trigger I'd go with the standard M&P and then go the Apex upgrade route. Again personally, I like the standard M&P trigger and I think anybody would be happy with the Pro version.

Do you think the Pro trigger is too light? Is the apex trigger conversion actually better than the pro trigger?

Apex vs Pro trigger...hard to say. For me personally, I'd rather go and stay with factory than to make a change but that is me. The only thing I add to my guns are extra mags; I tend to not have good luck when modifying anything and like Clint Eastwood says "A man has gotta know his limitations..." and that is mine.

It's hard to say the exact reason I like the 45's trigger over the 9 Pro...I actually have more rounds through the Pro at the moment, but the 45's round count gets higher and higher each month. It is honestly hard to say and it could be several factors combined in making the M&P45 feel better to me than an actual tangible thing like trigger weight. I think too much grief is given about the M&P trigger; it is light but consistent. I had my last 2 Glocks with me at the range along with my 2 M&P autos and did nothing but concentrate on the triggers and every time I came back to both M&Ps liking theirs above the Glock's.

I know that might not be exactly what you were hoping for; the quality of the trigger is kind of a personal preference and I don't think the Pro is that big of a leap above the standard models. It is the night sites or fiber optic sites in addition to no mag safety and no manual safeties than also help put the Pro above the standard models but again, there is a lot of your own personal preferences in there.

My personal preferences are actually thumb safeties...sounds silly and on anything other than an M&P I'd probably balk but my M&P45 came with one and I love it...in fact when I bought my M&P9c I probably paid a bit more for it but it was from my little local shop and it had the thumb safety so for me, I'd buy an M&P9 with the thumb safety and add night sites later but again that is me.

I purchased the 5 inch 9Pro and am very satisfied. My 9 Pro came with a fiber optic front sight and a fixed rear sight. If you intend to go the route of an adjustable rear sight you might be better off with the 9L and Apex sear/trigger.
