Is there a gen2 M&P on the way?

I overheard at the LGS and from someone picking up a police trade in that there is a "gen2" on the way.

Is that just the M&P with the larger sear spring or is it something else? I've found no confirmation else where.

I hope so. Shot my brothers 45 Shield today. Loved the grip texturing and trigger! I want one. But, more than the 45, I'd really want a Shield 9mm with the same grip texture and trigger as the 45.

I'm going to wait on the 45 in hopes that S&W will change the 9.

Much more likely than an overt 2nd generation is what has happened since introduction: evolutionary steps as they find things that can be improved or made to more closely fit consumer expectations. There are always aspects of mechanical devices that will work a little differently than predicted when enough consumers get them and really start pounding. Sometimes consumers do stuff that designers, engineers, and manufacturers don't expect. As these lessons are learned, the factory might implement some changes to address them.
