Found a deal on a locally listed M&P 40c and am meeting the guy to check it out tomorrow. I wanted to make sure it's a good buy first, sure seems like it. I know that Academy right now has them priced at $449, and I'm paying a bit more ... It's $525 for the M&P 40c, five magazines, factory night sights, and 100 rounds of ammo. He had it listed with the Streamlight for $600, but I didn't want the light with it, so he went down to $525 .. What do y'all think?

If you can get a new one for $450, i'd go with that. If your anticipated purchase was a new gun, it,would be an OK deal, but with the $75.00 you're saving you could buy that stuff yourself and have a new pistol,to boot.

It's sort of a tossup, but I'd go with the new one.

Sounds like he's getting a new price for his gun, IMO. The gun comes with 2 mags when new, so you're getting 3 extra mags and 100 rounds of ammo for $75; which isn't a bad deal per se. My concern would be whether the internals had been "messed with".

I over-paid a little for M&P 45 FS compared to what they are going for now; but it was complete in the box with all accessories/paper work and didn't look like it had been fired-or fired very little. I also knew if there were any issues, the shop or S&W would take care of them. I'm not sorry, as it shoots/functions just fine and I really enjoy it!

As a side note, Buds has them used for around $339-$379 with 2 mags and night sights. The model at $379 is listed at "Like New" condition. So the decision is really up to you. It's worth what you are willing to pay for it :-) I bought my FS M&P 40 as a Police Trade In from Buds and I'm VERY happy with mine. Looked like new, came in box but was missing a few accessories-$349.

I thought maybe the night sights is what would make the price worth it. I'm not sure how much this model with factory night sights costs brand new, I couldn't find that anywhere. The M&Pc after taxes at Academy comes out to $487, so really I'd be paying the extra $38 for three mags, 100 rounds, and night sights ... But it is still used and not new, so idk .. Valid points

UPDATE: The more I considered it, the more I took your words into consideration. I went ahead and purchased new from Academy for $449, and then went on CDNN and bought four full size mags for $14.99 each.
