This auction just ended and I have been trying to figure out if I did the right thing by letting it get away. I am new to S&W revolvers so I am no expert but I id'd it as a Model 13 with late 80's target grips. What do you all think?
Here is the link.

I would agree: The recessed cylinder tells us its not a model 10 so a 4" model 13 or dash 1 or 2 (early enough to be pinned and recesssed) is a best guess. But doesn't it seem odd to offer it for sale with no description whatsoever? I have to assume that the seller is completely unfamilar with firearms or at least S&W revolvers but decided to try the on-line auction instead of the local gun shop. Might be a really nice gun (can't tell from the poor photos) in which case someone got a good deal.

Not sure about the exact vintage of the stocks (I am not particularly interested in non pinned/recessed guns but they do indeed look like M586 target stocks) but it was indeed a pinned and recessed M13.

It went for a reasonable price. Only you can say whether you should have pursued it. Personally, I do not like nickel plated guns, so I would not fret over missing out on it.

Thanks Guy,
My powers of identifaction are improving! I dropped out at $260.00 but was wondering if maybe the seller had something they did not know about, hence the poor description. Although I'm sure plenty of knowledgeable collectors scour those auction sites!
