Is this engraving normal for CS-3? Is it unsightly?

I saw this gun for sale, but not sure I like the engraving on the side. If it's normal (came from SW like that as a special run I might live with it)

I own the one pictured in the other thread and I love it. It is an awesome gun and fairly hard to find. The engraving is cool and marks it as an export that was made by S&W sold through the S&W distributors named Wischo in Germany. Some either never left or found their way back. These are hard to find and unique, not to mention an incredible shooter. In any case it has some history and I am really glad I have it.

As the other posters have said, that is an original gun made for export through Wischo.

You'll have to decide for yourself whether or not it's unsightly, but the gun under the engraving is unique and very hard to find.

Just my opinion, but I think it looks good. Don't much like rubber grips, but that's easy to fix .... and that's an opinion as well.
Good price ???? You like it ??????? ..... Like another member told me.. Whats to think about ??

My CS is a 4" model with no engraving but I would be happy with yours. It is in no-way unsightly.

Don't obsess over this, but take that wonderful piece out and SHOOT it! In my opinion, the "L" frame Smith is the perfect platform for the .357 Magnum (I only have two

They were originally made for sale in West Germany, and were not as popular as hoped, so they were offered for sale through the military Rod&Gun clubs. They were made in 3,4,6" versions all with RB grips, and the engraving.

I think it is unsightly and I would have the sideplate replaced if it were mine. Of course, I am cognizant that I would be "destroying" any collector value, if it has any collector value in the first place. Since my intent is to use it, that would not be a factor, at least to me.
