I spotted this fellow in Gander Mtn. the other day. I recalled discussing fanny packs on here once or twice, so I thought I'd snap a photo on my camera.

So what do you think? Is he packin' or just committing a fashion crime?

If I thought I had to worry about people taking pictures of my backside I'd be carrying too. Yeah, the side carry is a little odd.

Absolutely, positively, dude is totin'. If not the fanny pack, the cargo shorts are a dead giveaway. :) Plus, definitely a keyboard ninja; you can tell by the white legs.

And can anyone discern what is on his belt in front of the "holster?" Perhaps a "tactical gadget" of some sort.

Be safe.

I don't often use the "fanny pack" type gun bag. But when I do that's the way I wear it. Only difference is I use the shorts or jeans belt to support it. It's much more comfortable and provides more natural access. Don't much give a rat's ... for how fashionable or telling that method is to other people.

Cargo shorts, T-shirt and flip/flops. Picture could have been of me most any day of the week!

He's in PA (right?) and he's probably legal, so who cares? You'd better figure that a LOT of people you think aren't carrying ARE carrying. There are a LOT of permits in the PDR of MA. Anybody, legal or illegal, whose MO is dependent on nobody carrying, just might be cruising for a bruising.

The potential purchaser looks to be manipulating the slide, from the angle, one can't tell whether his finger in on the trigger or not, perhaps testing the action in some way. Never a bad idea at Gander, since their display guns are often poorly handled and sometimes have "issues".

The guy has arm muscles and appears to be in okay shape for a middle aged white dude who's into guns. Given the age and condition of many forum members here, there's little room to talk/mock - the demographic includes a lot of older pasty white guys. (Don't look at me, I'm still moderately young and in decent shape.)

Since this is allegedly a group of adult men, I'm also not sure where the fashionista comments are coming from either. Eh, I don't wear shorts, but I love cargo pants. Gives me a place to carry extra manly junk. I wasn't aware that we'd started getting pedicures and hitting the tanning salon around here whilst having an energy drink smoothie. (Nay, we eat meat in great bloody hunks, singe our beards with our zippos, frost things with butter, and yank out our nose hair with pliers, and cut the filters off our cigarettes for more pure smoking pleasure...)

I don't care if he's got his gun out openly on his hip. I don't care if he's carrying a brace of pistols in a sash like a pirate. Either would be perfectly legal in my state. I think it's great that someone carries a gun period.

While not my favorite way to carry a gun (in a pack type pouch), it's certainly workable, and given the outfit, probably the best way to carry a decent size gun. He chose having a gun over looking perhaps a hair more fashionable. Wise choice given the two options. No one ever died from not matching their belt to their shoes (for example), people have died for not having a gun.
