on what should I pay attention when buying?

Swing open the cylinder and see what it says. This is a Model 60-10.

That is a model 686 with a 4" barrel. The number the seller gave you is the serial number, it should be in the same place as the model number. In the picture posted by s&wchad, the serial number is on top and the model number is below. If this is a 686 no dash, or a 686-1, there may also be the letter "M" stamped there, which would indicate that factory recall work has been done. What is the seller asking? Value would depend on condition, and whether he also has the original box and papers.

thank you.
the man is a policeman and said he fired only 6 bullets from this gun, so it should be in good conditions. he buy it new and wants 850 USD wich is a very goog price takeing in consideration that regular price in Croatia is 1.400 USD and more.
the price includes holsters and 100 bullets.

BTW I live in Croatia, Europe

Did the policeman carry this gun at work, having shot it only six times?

What pistol do most Croatian police usually carry?

Welcome to the board. :)
