Is your better half for or against conceal carry ?

My lady friend just past her ccw class last week with the pistol I bought her last year for xmas, she was totaly anti gun before she met me, but she wanted to spend time with me and I was headed to the range, wasn't long before she was hooked!

My fiance is totally against guns. If I carried I'd have to move. Fortunately she understands my friend and I going to the range every Friday for practice.

After all, I've been shooting all my life and it's the one pleasure she lets me still have as long as she doesn't have to see the guns.

Sounds exactly like my wife. She does not want to see it - ever. I must admit carrying every day is a pain in the ..... I've started to be more selective when I carry. For example, if I'm going to the gym, I'm not going to carry. I'd only have to lock it in the trunk anyway. I'm not about to lock it in the gym locker. If I'm going to a school function - can't carry. If I'm going to work I'd need to lock it in the trunk - and if security detected it when I go into the garage - I'd be out of a job. Carrying has become a logistical nightmare for most days. Does anyone have similar problems?

Kinda like the OP in that my wife didn't casre one way or the other when I got my CCW. Since the world has taken a turn for the worse she is glad that I do carry 99% of the time. I just about have her talked into getting her own CCW but she is like I used to be thinking that if I needed to carry a concealed weapon for sure, I would, permit or not. Never had to though. Open carry is OK here so it's mostly for traveling or where I know that people are frightened by the sight of a gun.
peace,

I've carried since I'm 21 I am now 61 and my wife has always known, but doesn't care for it. She is one that believes it can't happen here. She's not anti gun though! She will ridicule me for carrying when we are out and about together but she says I don't care when she goes alone. My response to her is for her to get a license and carry her own,but she won't? You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink!
As much as I hate to say that when she's by herself except when in the house, she's on her own!

Carried in the car for years before I we got our CHL's. She got her's first.

We both carry EVERY DAY ... EVERYWHERE. ( that is every where it is allowed )

Wife carries Ruger LCR ... My normal carry is a Sig P938. Do carry a Ruger LCP as a backup and carry either a Kimber Ultra 45 ACP or a Sig Sauer P226 TacOps when I am on the bike. One of these also reside in the Console of the vehicle when are traveling.

Attitude is "In order to have a gun fight, you have to have a gun", which is one of the mantras you hear over and over at the Front Sight training course we finished in December.

Thanks to all for their comments .. very please that so many wife's carry themselves !!

I think the one thing that changed my wife's mind was a guy killed his ex wife and her date in a restaurant during a reunion where a large group were together .. An FBI agent happened to be eating at the said restaurant and shot and killed the BG ..

Our daughter was less then 20 feet away eating dinner with friends of hers that night and called and talked to my wife when she got home telling her the story of what had gone down .. her and her girlfriends were under the table at the sound of the first shot .. daughter even dragged one friend to the ground that just set there frozen ..

That scared my wife into understanding the need for Conceal Carry .. and as I said before asks if I have my weapon with me before going out .. She told me then that she thought everyone would know I had a gun .. but after seeing me dressed with one on and no printing she was very surprised it could be done with out anyone knowing ..

Thanks again to all for their comments !!

And remember .. some saying it is a pain in the behind to carry 24/7 but its really the only way to insure you and your loved ones safety !!

Call the police and your lucky to have them show up in 10 to 15 minutes and if in the county outside of any towns Leo's jurisdiction it can take much longer .. 30 minutes or more especially during the night time hours when less officers are on duty !!

Have been conceal carrying since the law was changed here in Illinois and I got my CCL. After getting my license I committed to carrying all my waking hours.

At first my wife wasn't completely in favor of my wearing a weapon all of the time. Especially in our home . Though she didn't really voice her concern after 45 years of marriage you can feel the displeasure !!

She then saw some of my practice targets and was asking how far I was shooting from . I'm a fairly good shot off hand 10 rounds at thirty feet in a 2 in group not uncommon .

That was several years ago and times have change with things happening where someone with a gun could have prevented a number of deaths .

She now has asked several times before going out "You are carrying aren't you" ! So her attitude has changed.

So what does your better have say about you conceal carrying ? Are they for or against ?

My left side is fine. My right side is carrying the added weight so I would say no my right side is not as happy about conceal carry as my left side. 😀

Now my wife tolerates it but she did say with my Glock 43 purchase at Christmas time she was pretty done with me buying pistols so my next purchase last week was sale my XD 45 for the Glock 17 if you want it. So I sold my XD for $375 and bought a never fired Glock 17 for $450. Fortunately I had 45 ammo and extra magazines for my 45 that I sold so I could tell my sweetheart we cleared $60 on the deal.

My wife supports all OPEN and concealed carry in any way shape or form. I would have never married an anti gun whack job

My wife also won't/doesn't want to tell me what or how many I cam buy. Huge benefit of being the head of the household

My wife and I actually got our CHL's together. However, she only carries when she goes somewhere she's not familiar with. I ,on the other hand, carry everywhere except when I'm at home.

My wife has her CWP and carries a 60-7 Lady Smith in .357 magnum, but uses .38Sp+P. She is a good wife and mother, and I know she would not hesitate shooting to protect her life.

It also helps that she supports my firearms hobby. I never have to sneak in a new purchase.

My wife and I argue all the time about CW. She gets angry when I tell her I'm carrying her .32 H&R Magnum and she has to carry my .38 Smith & Wesson Special + P. Seriously, we both carry all the time.
