Probably the toughest type of transaction is a long distance gun trade that involves shipping handguns to each other.
It takes a leap of faith to trust a stranger to send you a valuable firearm with nothing but your word that you're doing the same.
Bill and I each had very desirable handguns that do very well on the auction boards.
We exchanged good pics online and struck a deal. I was a couple of days tardy in shipping mine so I included some collectable goodies to show my good faith.
Our guns arrived on the same day at our dealer's shops.I immediately emailed Bill telling him that I was very pleased on my end and would wait to hear from him before firing the gun he shipped to me.
I waited for almost two weeks for an answer.I emailed Bill several times with no answer.
I searched the forums that he frequents to see if he was active. Nothing.
Today I got an email from him saying he was very happy with the Colt I shipped to him.
The reason for the delay? Bill had a heart attack and had to be revived at home then rushed to the hospital for emergency by-pass surgery.
I am happy to report that he is doing well.
I am also happy to report that this is a gentleman you can deal with in complete confidence.
I only hope that giving up a very nice Smith wasn't the reason for his medical problems.
Thanks again Bill and a very speedy recovery.
