I recently purchased a lightly used SW1911TA E-Series pistol and I really like it a lot, but I do have an issue with it that I would like to correct. The issue i'm having is the grip safety really rattles when I'm carrying my 1911 concealed in my holster. The last thing you want when you are carrying a pistol concealed on your person is have it rattle and have someone ask you what is that rattling noise I hear when you are walking. This actually happened to me tonight, when as I was walking into my living room my wife asked my what that noise was.
Any one know of a fix for this grip safety rattling issue? New grip safety? New grip safety spring?

You just need to bend one of the fingers of the three-prong sear spring behind the grip safety. Remove the slide and the safety lever. The grip safety now comes out, exposing the sear spring. Bend the right most finger out a little and reassemble.

Short and sweet advice that's what I love about this forum.

Thanks for the info on how to correct this issue. Where is the best spot to make this bend? I read elsewhere that you need to be careful when bending this spring, since it can break when you attempt to bend it.
The side to side clearance of my grip safety seems a little excessive to me as well, are the higher end grip safeties you can buy better in this department?

I would just pull back a bit on the tip of the right-most finger (it's the one that contacts the grip safety). Don't make a sharp bend in one place - let it distribute across the length of the spring. Reassemble and test - repeat if necessary. You won't need too add much of bend at all, just enough to keep tension on the grip safety to prevent it from rattling.

Can't help on the aftermarket grip safeties. Mine tightened up with the spring tweak and no longer rattles.

Thanks, I'll give it try.
