When I picked up my latest find (an early 1970's Model 60) last week, one of the gun shop's part-time employees quietly asked me if I was interested in buying his 3" Model 66-2, stating the need to pay some bills. When given the price, lets just say, I couldn't refuse. I bought one last summer, and never expected to buy another one, but being the kind of guy who likes to help others, I bought it. I registered it today, and brought it home. The grips on the gun are signed on the back "Craig Spegel 2006". I not sure what kind of wood this is. The gun also has/came with the standard Walnut checkered service grips. This Model 66-2 differs quite a bit from the 66 (no dash) 3" I already had owned, which makes getting this an interesting companion gun. I added a picture of my other 66 for comparison. The Walnut grips are from Keith Brown with ivory inlays.

That's it, you are officially cursed with the S&W disease...

You already know my opinion of your no dash. Now I can hate you even more! :)

VERY nice lil combo you got going there Compadre.

Very nice Model39!! Congrats!

It doesn't get any better than that in a sixgun. Enjoy yours! Regards 18DAI.

26 years ago, a friend of mine acquired a 66 three-inch. I admired it, and he let me shoot it. You could say it was love at first shot. I offered to buy it, but he refused.

Fast forward to now...........I have half a dozen three-inch revolvers, most of them by S&W, and he still has his Model 66. And negotiations continue. When he said, "From my cold dead hands," I replied, "If necessary..............." ;)

I really don't harbor a jealous rage (yes I do), but you really have a winner there. All I have is a 3 inch M19, nickle, circa 1969. Got it from HH Harris in Chicago, kind of the John Jovino of Illinois. Can't carry it any more, its too nice.

Model39,

Alright, that's it. I'm driving up there just to rub the top of your noggin in the hopes that some of your S&W mojo or good karma or whatever it is will rub off and I, too, will enjoy a great find.

Beautiful acquisitions you have there. Good work in jumping at the opportunity.

Chris
