I know it sounds odd,
But it is true,
I seperated about 1 year ago from a job of 15 years and went to work for this guy who we will call bobo,
Well he made lots of promises that never happened,
I was shorted hours for what ever reason was convenient.
last week I was sent to a training coarse and he deducted the "Lunch" they gave us from my pay as well as the hour or so they let us go early.
Well this past weekend was basically my birthday and Eileen and I were going away locally just to get away.
I was called and texted 10+ times to go on service calls and I refused to go since we have no service call schedual, I was away amd most importantly I sat down with BoBo on Thursday and told him I would be away this weekend as well as dinner with the family on Mon night.
There are many things that happened that I am not including since It is boring and it would take me a week to write.
I was ready to hand in my two week notice first thing this morning, Already written and ready to go.
Well last eve I checked my other phone and there was a message from BoBo,,,,, A vary sarcastic mean message from him to me.
Well with the bad economy and not many jobs out there I cleared the work truck of all my HVAC stuff, My personal stuff, Placed all my work uniforms neatly washed and folded in the truck and delivered the truck to the shop along with the work phone, Credit cards and the like.....
~~~I FEEL GREAT~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~~
I am 44 today and this was just about the most amusing thing i have ever done.
The place I WAS working fired the other skilled tech, So I was the only guy who could take on a tough trouble shooting issue as well as do installs of the new fangled HVAC stuff,,,, not even the owner can do what I did for him,,,,,,
I was supposed to be repairing a solar water heater this morning, But now I have off and am so pleased with myself! ! !
~This is the best Birthday I can remember~ ~ ~ ~~ ~ ~ ~
So folks
I am sure I will get another job,,,,
I can go 6 months easy on the checking account and have other savings I dont want to touch,,, A good friend has a heating a refridgeration business where I can go work a couple days a week for cash if I want and he will also be my "Boss" for the past 6 months or so I worked for BoBo so no holes in resume...
As I sit here, Sipping a fresh cup of coffee, Peaking out the window, My dog curled up in her bed a couple feet away and my wonderful woman still sleeping (Second shift nurse)
I am relaxed and feeling better than I have for weeks ! ! !!
This is surely a March 8th I will remember fondly ! !
And BoBo will remember it too! ! ! ! !
Enjoy your day all !! ! !
Stress is a real killer and it sounds like you just got rid of a lot of stress! Good for you, I hope you get a really good job next!
My son went back to his job last week on a part time basis. They told him that more hours would be available as soon as the other driver/yard man quit. That guy called in from his lunch break about then and said he wouldn't be back. Good timing.
Son spent November to March hunting, trapping, and fishing and got in a lot of couch time. Now he is ready to work.
Have a nice day, but my guess is that you will be getting calls to go back to work as soon as the word gets out that you are available.
Happy Birthday.
I tell soldiers who are getting out that there is a difference between a job and occupation. To me a job is something to hold you until you find the occupation. I also say a bad job will bury you, an occupation will be missed when you retire.
I say Bravo, the decision to walk away from this idiot will save 10 years of your life because of getting rid of the stress.
Oh, you gave yourself a fine Birthday Present!!!
I was just driving down the road from running a couple of errands and I just started to smile ! Feeling good about myself and the world!
Sometimes others may expect that you are a pawn and you wind up a Knight that wont take that treatment and then>>>> What will he do now?
I truly hope that he will reflect on what happened to him and his business and realize that if he wants good, Faithful workers that he should treat them as the person who is making HIS salary and keeping HIS business going each and every day ! ! !
I wish no ill upon him...
Well, It is a beautiful spring day here in the Phila area and I think I will go and clean the chicken coop, Putz about the yard and just be happy !! !
Thanks for the support!
Oh, Eileen was shocked when I told her last night at 1:30 am that I had today off,,, And the rest of the week,
She listened to the message he left and the sailor came flowing out of her mouth like I have never heard from her~~Ever~~
Enjoy your day folks !
Congrats on your birthday and on a gutsy move, particularly in this economy. Many years ago I did a similar thing and quit a job that was a no-win situation. Just walked in that morning and resigned. My wife and family were away visiting relatives, and I called them to tell them the news. Shocked everyone, but there's a limit to what you must endure, and you need your self-respect. I had no other job lined up, but had one within a few weeks. It's much more satisfying to quit on your own terms and not have to endure a bad situation. It's a free country, and most jobs are "at will," both theirs and yours. Good show. If you are good at what you do, the new job thing will be easy. Best wishes to you!
P.S. Consider starting your own business. If you are as good as you say, it might be a great option. I ran my own business for 11 years, and never enjoyed anything more. Long hours, hard work, but the rewards are yours and no one else's!
There sure is A LOT of BoBo's in the HVAC field... I used to work for one....... Then he quit! One of the happiest days of my life! :D
Enjoy!
Congrats and Happy Birthday.
In my Air Force occupation we all had to get HVAC certified. We hardly ever needed it but it was part of the job.
I was amazed at the offers many of the Airman got once they decided they didn't want to reenlist. Several would bring in the email or letter they got from different companies around the country. Some of these kids got jobs that paid equal to our Majors or Commanders.
I was very happy for them and wished them all the luck in the world.
sounds familiar ... Ive done the same.
What Ive learned is that such employers like Bobo as you call him... (ive called mine far worse), tend to require a lot more energy than they are worth.
This part you probably plainly see. the part you dont see quite so readily is that you in fact DID have enough energy to invest in all Bobo's tasks and quite possibly a little more to spare.
Now what if you were to take your skills and apply that same energy to your own endeavor?
say ... give or take a little financial knowledge ... your a successful business owner. Seems to be what we need more of now a days.;)
Happy birthday and congratulations on your decision. Saying goodbye to a jerk like bobo on your own terms is like taking a hot bath when you are filthy dirty. You just feel GOOD all over.
