Well the grass is growing trees are budding and the local Robin is busy looking for worms. So I get the lawn tractor out to cut the grass. 2/3 the way through the job the mower breaks. I know what the problem is and I know what parts I need. Can't go down to local Sears to pick up parts I need because no local Sears anymore. So I ordered the parts I need from Amazon and when they get here my problem is can I get my old fat 78 year body down to replace the parts. I hate that I just can't do the things I used to do with ease. Lawn Mower repair shops are thin on the ground here and the job is easy if I can get it done. My son and grandsons all live 1600 miles away so guess I can call 911 to drag me out from under the mower if it doesn't work out.:D

Here at my place we have birds chowing down at the feeders hanging in the big tree out front and a rabbit sitting under the tree to pick up what the birds spill from the feeders.

We need rain here in the Texas Panhandle real bad and are still in a drought. Spring is here and the Henbit and various weeds are prolific and don’t need much water but the grasses are dead. I’m thinking about just raising rocks.

Up here in the PNW spring is coming in spurts and drabs. But it is coming, the rain gets warmer.

The weather yo-yo here is up and down. 80s, followed by 60s, down in the 50s, back up to 70s. Then repeat.

It got to 70 on Saturday. The forecast for the next few days is upper 40s. :(

I saw where the UP of Michigan is expecting 1-2 feet of snow. Here in the Blue Ridge, instead of our yearly 24"-36" of snow, we got TWO snowfalls of 1/2 INCH, plus some dustings and flurries.

For me getting down is the easy part (gravity takes care of most of the effort). Getting back up is the real challenge.

I have also noticed that tools never seem to fit my hands anymore.

Rocks tend to come back year after year with little maintainence. They were prominent in my garden in northern Ohio were even rough perennials were challenged to survive.

It was 97°F today, and we have a forecast of 67°F for Thursday. These dramatic weather swings might be why I've seen so few scorpions out and about. I thought after the long, wet winter we've had they would come pouring out of their lairs once we got some warm days. Seems I was wrong.

grover99 I know exactly what you are talking about. I'm 88 now and can't
do many little household repair jobs that I used to. I even have difficulty
walking, without using a walker. Old age is no picnic.

My dad was lucky enough to beat cancer, but the treatments began a slow destruction of his body. In and out of nursing homes for maybe 8-10 years until he left the last one a different way than he entered it. Some say the alternative to aging is a bad thing. Not true in his case. I'm only 66 but some things I just can't do anymore, but others I need to do before I can't. My son is about 45 minutes away and he'll come down if I ask so he can watch me do what I need to do, like, he can watch me stand on the ground while he's on the roof dropping a flue liner for the water heater down the chimney while I do the indoor part! I removed the hoop from the backboard in my driveway because all I had left in me was standing back and dropping foul shots...it mocked me every time I walked by, so Mr. Sawzall & I removed the hoop! Anyone in their 80s that can still walk, with or without a cane or walker, I admire. I can still get the speed bag going pretty good, but I sure as heck ain't gonna start any fights or get into any situations that used to be fun! I applaud you older men & women.

Yeah, spring has come to West Tennessee. So has the pollen and my sinus is giving me fits. That in turn has caused a bit of a COPD flare up. For a while there I felt like poop.
I also understand about not being able to do things like I used to. Not that long ago, I'd come home after a full days work, fire up the lawn mower and cut the front and back yards in about 45 minutes total. Now at 69, retired and worse for wear, cutting the yard takes 3 hours or more with frequent stops to rest and catch my breath.

"I've reached the age where I no longer bounce. If I fall down, I'm just there." actor Dale Robertson in one of his last interviews.

We had 3 days of 80's a week or so ago. Then the bottom fell out , again. Am seeing some hints of green, and blue plate specials are on the road again.

I'm in the same ship, age wise and a little stoked up.
I see the high school kids walking by from school and wonder if any of them would
like to pick up some cash for a little help ?

Other option is calling a handy man.
